Job Description :

Accountant performs a variety of professional accounting duties related to all aspects of payroll, accounts payable, financial audits, and federal/state grant requirements in accordance with federal regulations, prescribed accounting system, and generally accepted principles of accounting.

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or business administration preferred, significant job experience may be considered. Must be proficient in advanced computer skills; must have knowledge of the principles, procedures, and practices of general accounting. Experience with non-profit, general ledger, grants and 403b preferred. Two years’ experience with processing payroll and accounts payable.
Must pass a Criminal Background Check and Employment Fitness Determination through WVCARES and a drug screen.

ESSE*NTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform all phases of payroll, including payroll reconciliation, journal entries, employee allocations, accruals and required reports.
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of laws/regulations and Seneca’s policies/procedures related to compensation and benefits.
  • Reconciliations of payroll-related insurance invoices.
  • Perform all aspects of accounts payable, including proper set-up of vendors, ensure accurate general ledger coding, invoice entry, payments, cost distributions, reconciliations, and all reporting.
  • Ensure vendor compliance.
  • Perform bank account and credit card reconciliation.
  • Assist with preparing and transmitting annual W-2, 1099 and 1095-C forms.
  • Assure payroll and accounts payable compliance for Federal and State Grants based on Target Funded Balance and Grant Agreements, including properly allocating employees to correct location programs and correct coding to expenses for grant-funded programs.
  • Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual grant reconciliations, as well as all required grant reporting.
  • Assist VP/CFO with external financial audits.
  • Assist with creation and maintenance of organizational distribution tables for proper allocation of expenses and determination of indirect cost rate.
  • Prepare routine payroll and accounts payable audits and reports, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
