Purpose of Position

  • Is to manage the company's accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
  • Is to oversee the company's internal control framework.
  • is to support the overall goals and expectations of the Finance & Accounting Department.

Position Competency

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting required, CPA is preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Expert level knowledge of GAAP.
  • Hands on experience with accounting applications, strong systems aptitude and Excel expertise.
  • Experience with financial statement preparation and audits.
  • Deep knowledge of the design, operation and monitoring of internal controls.
  • Effective supervisory skills.

Role Expectations
**
*Accounting: *

  • Manage all aspects of the monthly close, ensuring completion of tasks to consistently meet the company’s reporting deadlines. Drive continuous improvement to reduce the closing timeframe without sacrificing accuracy.
  • Responsible for preparation and review of journal entries, with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Supervision of accounting staff.
  • Manage balance sheet account reconciliations. Perform assigned reconciliations and review those completed by others according to the designated frequency.
  • Oversee monthly accruals to ensure posting of costs and revenues in the proper period.
  • Understand revenue vs. pass-through arrangements and ensure correct accounting treatment and timely billing.
  • Identify prepaid expenses and see to amortization of expense.
  • Perform accounting for ASC 606 revenue recognition, ASC 842 lease accounting, and the application of other complex accounting standards.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the company’s internal controls.
  • Assist with coordination of the annual financial statement audit, provide requested documents, and respond to auditor inquiries.
  • Over time, take responsibility for oversight of fixed asset accounting (in the BNA system) including capitalization, depreciation, disposals and transfers.
  • After the completion of an HRIS conversion currently underway, manage payroll/labor accounting, including interfaces with the payroll system (Paylocity).

*Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable: *

  • Oversee the AP function, ensuring quality and time lines of work.
  • Manage the AP cycle, including PO matching, accurate and timely vendor invoice entry, and preparation for weekly check runs.
  • Support the AP Specialist in responding to vendor inquiries, monitoring payment status and resolving issues.
  • Oversee the customer invoice entry and cash application functions.
  • Supervise the AR Coordinator and provide support for receivables monitoring and follow up.
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s approval matrix, and with all AP and AR related controls.

Other Responsibilities*: *

  • Act as owner of the general ledger, managing chart of account maintenance activities within the accounting system (Sage 100) and ancillary systems.
  • Assist in evaluating the adequacy of the accounting system to support the needs of the business, and implement bolt-on applications to facilitate process improvements.
  • Supervise the loading of monthly actuals from the GL into the company’s financial reporting and forecasting application (Workday Adaptive Planning), ensuring the two systems are in sync.
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements for distribution to company leadership, ownership, banks and other approved parties.
  • Prepare variance analysis and other explanations to support a through understanding of reported results.
  • Ensure confidentiality and safeguarding of the company’s financial information.
  • Work as a key member of a highly collaborative and mutually supporting Accounting & Finance team.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $95,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
