SALES AGRONOMIST - WEST

JOB PURPOSE: To deliver on the mission of Valley Farmers supply by profitably providing

technical agronomy expertise and superior customer service

JOB SUMMARY: Accountable for the relationship with the grower, sales and delivering on valued added activities in established western territory. These include up-to-date consultation in crop production technology, assisting in agronomy problem solving and data on customer contact.

Reports To: Agronomy Director

Essential Job Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To The Following:

• Responsible for specific account relationship and sales objectives
• Ability to understand customer’s business and what is important to that customer
• Take soil and tissue samples, make recommendations to agronomic problems based on results
• Monitor crops for pest, fungus and weed problems, making recommendations for control
• Know and use all resources necessary to make proper recommendations and applications of products sold
• Ability to close on the sale
• Develop new accounts. Utilize time effectively
• Evaluate new products by putting out test plots as appropriate
• Schedule application of agronomy products when needed
• Work with other company agronomists to serve our customers more efficiently
• Work closely with operations to ensure customer needs are met in a timely fashion
• Work closely with operations managers regarding proper inventory management
• Help in the process of evaluating new products to introduce
• Staying current on new industry practices and processes

Other Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To The Following:

• Use computer to formulate mixes, record grower contacts, work orders, recommendations and email
• Attend training sessions to keep up to date on latest technology
• Maintain company vehicle in a professional manner
• Follow company safety rules
• Maintain Certified Crop Advisor certification through continue education
• Other duties, responsibilities and/or tasks as assigned

Special Skills/Training

• Knowledge of computer systems operation and associated software
• Skill to operate a forklift safely and efficiently
• Ability to interact effectively with customers and co-workers
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Proficiency in crop, weeds, and seed identification

Desired Experience

• Minimum of five years’ experience as an agronomist or two years’ experience with CCA certification
• College Degree in Agriculture (or related field) or minimum of five years as a CCA certified agronomist
• Consultant license, CCA certification

Physical Requirements

• Work requires occasional turning and lifting of over 60 pounds
• Work requires occasional long periods of walking and standing

Working Conditions

• Work is conducted outdoors in customer fields with no climate control
• Exposure to dust and noise

SALARY/WAGE/BENEFITS

This position comes with a competitive compensation package based on background and experience. Valley Farmers Supply offers medical, dental and life & long-term disability benefits to full time team members. Team members may also participate in the company’s 401(k) plan after meeting eligibility requirements.
