Positions: Application Support Specialist

Job Summary

As the Application Support Specialist, your daily responsibilities will include, providing technical and functional support relating to the various applications and other system level software used at Amgraph. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a small IT department, and be highly motivated to learn. This person will be a self-starter, should excel in challenging situations, willing to provide valuable input to achieve company and team goals. The position requires a strong versatile skill set with advanced technical support skills for all applications used throughout Amgraph Packaging’s Baltic and Watertown locations. This position will be responsible for the installation, upgrades, troubleshooting and repair of software on or related to manufacturing ERP systems. This includes crystal reports which is the backbone of Amgraph’s business operations. This person will be working in a virtual environment daily, must have excellent interpersonal, decision making, and problem-solving skills.

Job Responsibilities

  • Highly proficient in ERP manufacturing software applications including SQL, and databases.
  • Ability to create, and edit crystal reports to be used in ERP systems.
  • Works collaboratively with other IT staff members, vendors, and customers to ensure that systems and business requirements are met.
  • Provide high-level application implementation, troubleshooting and problem resolution to the applications assigned.
  • Support field upgrades and maintenance tickets for supported applications.
  • Ensure valid monitoring alarms are ticketed for supported applications.
  • Ensure applications meet standard profile management for all assets.
  • Develop tool initiatives and ongoing enhancement improvements.
  • Develop a strong working relationship with application vendors, all departments, and within the IT Organization.
  • Effectively identifies, documents, and communicates business requirements to the rest of the IT organization.
  • Provide help desk support, and ability to provide support without being encouragement to all team members.
  • Ensures stability and develops roadmaps for all assigned applications.
  • Continually monitors, resolves application, and other help desk issues.
  • Work in test environment to test all applications before upgrades to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Assists and supports evaluations, development, and implementation of department policies and procedures.
  • Keeps current with new technologies and solutions by attending technical training, seminars, workshops, and/or related academic courses as required.
  • Maintains and develops user-friendly documentation to ensure proper use of all applications for staff members.
  • Ensures proper documentation of all applications assigned; including topology and workflow diagrams, along with operational procedures and security requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a verified minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a fast-paced IT environment providing high-level application support.
  • Must have a minimum of 3-years’ experience managing ERP systems, manufacturing is a plus.
  • Must have a minimum of 3-years’ experience writing, editing, and publishing Crystal Reports.
  • Must have a minimum of 2-years’ experience working with databases especially Access and SQL.
  • Must be able to project a professional, positive, calm demeanor, while executing the essential duties of the position.
  • Must possess the ability to conduct an in-depth analysis of given problems and make logical, well-thought-out steps towards their solution.
  • Demonstrates proven ability to be able to identify system requirements in a specification format and translate, through system programming, into a useful computer-based application.
  • Must possess the ability to interface with end users and perform as a liaison between IT and the affected area.
  • Flexibility, professionalism, good communication skills, and the ability to learn are crucial for this role.
  • Must have good organizational, verbal, written communication skills including the ability to effectively produce written support documentation.
  • The ability to perform well in a fast-paced team environment and meeting deadlines is essential.
  • The ability to handle multiple assignments as necessary.
  • Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Flexible and willing to be on call rotation.

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree or technical certifications.
  • Preferred Certificates in Crystal Reports, SQL, ERP Systems, Security Plus, Network Plus, Microsoft, Cisco or CompTIA.
  • EFI/ ePS Radius, DCU, Shop Floor experience supporting ERP applications.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment using ERP systems.
  • Experience as a project manager for application upgrades.
  • Experience identifying and working with Virtual Environments.
  • Experience building and maintaining databases especially Access and SQL.
  • Knowledge of network topologies, and common network administration.
  • Experience coordinating Help Desk requests with team members.
  • Veaam Backup administration experience.

Occasional travel - You will be expected to travel for this position to our Watertown, CT Facility occasionally.
