Faribault County, Minnesota, is located in South Central Minnesota approximately 120 miles southwest of the Minneapolis and St. Paul metropolitan area. With a population of 13,765 residents, It is bordered to the north by Blue Earth County and Waseca County, to the west by Martin County, to the east by Freeborn County, and to the south by Iowa.

Within the County there are 11 communities and 20 townships. The City of Blue Earth and the City of Wells house the two major school districts serving the majority of the County. These two communities have become hubs for the County and also have the two largest populations. The City of Winnebago and the City of Minnesota Lake follow in population counts, with the majority of remaining communities being similar in population size.

In Faribault County there is no shortage of things to see and do. You will find city parks scattered throughout the communities. The Blue Earth River and its tributaries run north through the heart of the County providing kayaking and canoeing for enthusiasts from around the region in the spring, summer, and fall. Nearly every community has a summer festival including more than a few with car and/or motorcycle shows and swap meets. There are a number of museums and historic sites scattered throughout the County. There is also a circular bird watching route that connects dozens of wildlife and natural areas throughout the area.

Job Summary
Assists the County Engineer with the management of the operations of the Public Works Department. Provides work direction and supervises the engineering staff to accomplish the surveying, design, and inspection duties on highway and bridge construction projects, assumes the County Engineer’s duties as necessary, and communicates with other governmental entities and the general public concerning the department’s construction projects. This position offers a great opportunity for career growth.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with six years of civil engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Professional registration as a Civil or Highway Engineer is required. MNDOT certification is recommended.
