Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Autopsy Aide/Diener.

In this role, the successful candidate Responsible for providing general autopsy services assistance including but not limited to inspection of autopsy consent form with body tags for verification and identification of the body, assists with dissection of body and organs, assists with examination of organs, and closure. Responsible for cleaning and maintaining of the autopsy suite once the autopsy is completed. Mentor, teach and instruct residents during the autopsy on correct methods for autopsy performance including enblock resection of viscera and/or single organ removal techniques.

Job Responsibilities:

• Participates in departmental and inter-departmental conferences when appropriate. Shows resourcefulness in finding alternatives in accomplishing work tasks when appropriate. Accurately and efficiently describe, dictate, and dissect all categories of anatomic specimens in accordance with departmental guidelines.
• Follows OSHA regulations for PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) such as lab coats, gloves, and protective shields when in contact with blood and body fluids.
• Supports co-workers in the accomplishment of day to day activities and tasks. Follows direction from other members of the pathology staff.
• Follows all safety procedures related to hazardous or potentially contaminated reagents or specimens. Coaches and mentors.
• Takes corrective action regarding unsafe working conditions. Reads standard operating procedure manual yearly. Follows the laboratory s procedures for specimen handling and processing.
• Accommodate changing work schedules. Utilizes appropriate telephone etiquette to identify Staff themselves by name and location.
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Assumes responsibility for proper handling of any lab specimens forwarded. Resolves problems with autopsy receipt. Responds in a timely manner to organizational information requests. Utilizes technology to improve services, processes and productivity. Completes daily assignments in an organized, efficient manner.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Associate's Degree Sciences or equivalent certification.
3 - 5 years Autopsy experience. Excellent communication skills (both oral & written), interpersonal and organization skills.
Proficiency with computers.
Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate and resolve situations within and external to the department.
Displays pleasant attitude during the workday with staff.
Demonstrates safe use of the table andHand saws.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor s Degree Pathologist Assistant. 1 - 2 years Medical Examiner s office experience. Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate and resolve situations within and external to the department. Displays pleasant attitude during the workday with staff. Demonstrates safe use of the table andHand saws.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $165.00 - $165.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
