The candidate we seek for Business Development Executive is a natural customer relationship builder and leader who will foster a culture and reputation for customer focus, engagement, professionalism, and respect. While providing vision and leadership, the Business Development Executive will direct commercial and operational initiatives to provide a positive customer experience, judiciously grow the business, ensure that the proper operational controls, procedures, and systems are in place, and financial metrics are met or exceeded. This candidate has accessible broad and deep industry relationships that will lead to attracting and retaining customers and key staff and is an analytical thinker who understands cost accounting financial drivers and enterprise-wide project management.

Responsibilities:

· Demonstrate a sharp, defined understanding of the direction of the underground utility industry and tri-state area and develop a well-articulated strategy, providing clear intelligently derived, communicative course of action to meet company growth and profitability objectives.

· Promote and market company capabilities to attract new clients. Prepare and or direct proposal development in alignment with market development. Review and provide input on proposals/bids.

· Prioritize initiatives and develop current and new market business pursuits for viability and objective attainment.

· Identify pertinent critical success factors for each project. Anticipate issues and collaborate to develop multiple plans to address issues. Supervise estimating.

· Develop project execution plan with project managers including job cost breakdown and schedules. Confirm job accounting is in order and utilize for projections. Review all major purchases of equipment and subcontractors. Review job progress to ensure success including SOW, change orders, schedule, and identify any impediments to progress.

· Guide and drive a data focused decision-making culture to inform prioritization. Drive revenue and profit growth using data and defined processes

· Simplify processes and reduce costs in any area that is not critical to Guardian’s mission. Resist bureaucracy that traps resources and slows decision making.

· Set the standard for stimulating thoughtful communication, mentoring, empowerment, and resource management. Motivate, inspire, and create an environment for employees to work smarter while having fun, learning, and growing.

· Establish strong connections and credibility through the highest level of professionalism, ethics, integrity, mutual respect, and value-added approach.

· Hold others accountable to their jobs and follow up to ensure the work is getting done.

· Develop and execute on supply chain strategies and relationships that ensure adequate supply of products and resources while managing costs.

· Facilitate and advise on questions between the company departments – electric, gas, engineering, construction, permitting, supply chain and Guardian Family of company resources.

· Contribute to Guardian’s development through participation in leadership development programs, identifying industry trends that Guardian should be addressing and contributing to workforce development activities.

Experience:

• Overall work experience including other business and career experience 15 years with 5+ years executive level and 10 years subcontracting. Familiarity with underground Utility Business a plus.

Education:

• Bachelor of Science; advanced degree a plus. Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction Management a plus.
