Job Description :

The Buyer Planner role is responsible for managing the supply chain to obtain a reliable steady flow of product. This position will have a solid working understanding of all areas that can affect the supply chain including orders, forecast, procurement, planning, supplier management and inventory management. The position will review MRP information and execute work orders and purchase orders to obtain the desired inventory. The Buyer Planner role is expected to troubleshoot and resolve moderately complex supply chain issues that affect inventory or on hand availability.

The Buyer Planner is responsible for maintaining the necessary product inventory on time with minimal excess scrap. The Buyer Planner is responsible for communicating stocking dates to the orders department when requested. The Buyer Planner is responsible for communicating all relevant supply chain issues to management. The Buyer Planner is expected to be able to create or communicate any additional reports or tools that will improve work efficiency.

The Buyer Planner is an on-site role located in San Jose, CA.

In this role, you will support the Manager, Materials and be part of the purchasing/planning team that supports the company with all its material supplies and orders. You will use your analytical skills to gather information and interpret the data to reach logical conclusions impacting the supply chain. Then communicate your thoughts, opinions and ideas clearly using your superior communication skills. Your work is highly important to the company’s success to create products and support its end users.

What will you do:

  • Ensure compliance with all company purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Manage primary supplier relationship.
  • Provide feedback to suppliers regarding performance and quality issues.
  • Identify and develop new supply sources where suppliers are inadequate.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and/or internal customers to negotiate and resolve delivery requirements, material shortages, inventory levels, or quality improvements.
  • Obtain quotes from suppliers for inventory and non-inventory items.
  • Perform item cost rolls or updates when required.
  • Review and adjust demand forecasts as needed.
  • Manage blanket purchase agreements in Oracle.
  • Review purchase requisitions.
  • Through the use of MRP, analyze, evaluate, and schedule material availability to meet internal and external customer demand.
  • Resolve inventory stocking issues to support internal and external customers.
  • Review out of stock daily and address situation promptly.
  • Procure and manage inventory to ensure inventory turns and minimize carrying costs.
  • Monitor demand and consumption to optimize supply and minimize excess inventory.
  • Resolve disposition of material in a timely manner.
  • Maintain other relevant system data, including item master, item cost, safety stock, vendor data, BOMs, routings, and other order modifiers.
  • Daily communication with Operational groups on product status, material delivery, product shipments, and production schedules.
  • Communication with other departments on product availability, material deliveries, month end actions, and inventory processes.
  • Frequent email communication with external manufacturing and distribution center sites, on product availability, product shipments, material deliveries and receipts.
  • May coordinate operational information on custom bulk requests.
  • Ability to set measurements to ensure key metrics are met (delivery, quality, cost, inventory reduction).
  • Supports Materials Manager in costing, forecasting, and physical inventory activities when requested.
  • Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Has internal and external contacts.
  • Works independently, receiving general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.
  • Maintains documentation for areas of responsibility.
  • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business or similar field.
  • Must be proficient in EXCEL, Oracle E-Business experience required (or similar ERP system).
  • Minimum 5 years MRP planning experience.
  • Prior experience with in-house production including releasing and closing of work orders.
  • Prior experience planning and managing inventory levels of products with short shelf life.
  • ​Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written.

Preferred:

  • APICS training.
  • Background in Life Sciences or with purchasing chemicals and reagents.
  • Prior experience managing supply chains, domestic and international.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
