JOB DESCRIPTION

Exciting opportunity for an RF/Cellular/Performance Engineer to operate and configure a Tier 1 private cellular network to support research and development activities. The emphasis is on the physical (RF) layer for UMTS, LTE, 5G, and IoT devices under various conditions.

Typical tasks include changing system parameters, running periodic system diagnostics, and performing trend analysis.

· Periodically reconfigure the network to function on different technical baselines, supporting different testing scenarios and requirements.

· Operate diagnostic equipment such as spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, network scanners, and similar devices.

· Provision devices to operate on the network, add devices to locations registers, and maintain accurate device lists.

· Prepare and update procedure for providing network services to various customers to support testing and training events.

· Plan and coordinate hardware, software, and firmware upgrades while minimizing system outages.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering, computer science, or related field.
• U.S. citizenship is required. Clean background to be eligible to obtain a security clearance (which is not required to apply or start working).
• Demonstratable experience installing, operating, maintaining, or developing commercial cellular software and hardware from major OEMs
• Demonstratable experience testing and resolving configuration problems with user equipment provisioned on commercial cellular networks.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

· Hands on experience with Ericsson equipment

· Knowledge of current and emerging commercial wireless protocols including UMTS, LTE, and 5G across voice, data, and messaging.

· Technical expertise with diagnostic devices such as spectrum analyzers and radio monitoring receivers.

· Ability to perform RF planning and using software tools to predict propagation patterns.

· A comprehensive understanding of cellular technology with a focus on network performance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Position Type: Full-time, 40 hours typical, Monday through Friday.

This is a current vacancy that is immediately available. It is not contingent upon a contract award. This is a long term, stable position in a team environment.

Location: At a Department of Defense facility on Fort Bragg North Carolina, with occasional short-term travel to other locations. The work location is approximately ten minutes from Southern Pines, NC and within commuting distance of Raleigh, NC.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary Range: $104,000-$130,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of P3MS’ total compensation package for employees.
