The Civil Project Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with all practices and G3 standards within each project. The PM is responsible for preparing design, permitting, and bid documents and participation in project approval. It is the responsibility of a Civil Project Manager to facilitate coordination of internal designers and contractors for timely completion and submission of the project. The other functions of a Civil Project Manager include providing technical advice to their team, developing graduate engineers, designers and drafters involved in their projects, participating in the management of business development efforts, preparing specifications, approving and submitting accurate reports of each project, contract documentation, and maintaining relationships with clients as well as authorities.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Direct and manage project development from beginning to end
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables through collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals
  • Draft and submit budget proposals and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary
  • Determine the need for staff and consultants and assist with appropriate recruitment efforts during project cycle
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and stake
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools
  • Track project milestones and deliverables
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results and troubleshoot problem areas
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate to involved parties throughout project life cycle
  • Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work
  • Build, develop, and grow business relationships vital to the success of the project
  • Conduct project post-mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management

What you’ll need to succeed:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from accredited program
  • 5 years of experience in civil engineering design, including: water and sanitary sewer pipelines, roadway design for private, city and county projects, civil site design and drainage
  • Professional P.E. license in the state of South Carolina/North Carolina and/or effort to obtain additional licensure, preferred
  • Ability to always maintain positive attitude and professional demeanor and appearance, and perform well under project constraints and deadlines
  • Database and operating systems experience with Civil 3D and AutoCAD
  • Competent and proficient understanding of platforms, such as Hydrologic & Hydraulic modeling software, such as: ICPR, HEC-HMS, HEC-GeoRAS, TR-55, HEC-RAS, Flow Master, Culver Master, Storm CAD, Infoworks and XP-SWMM
  • Experience managing and developing a team
  • Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products
  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to travel locally & regionally (South Carolina & North Carolina)
