Role Summary:

The Commercial Director-Healthcare is a dynamic customer facing position which is part of the Healthcare Division leadership team who will promote PI's Healthcare capabilities through customer and industry interaction. This person will provide strategic insight and guidance to the healthcare division and direction to the sales team. This individual will have a deep understanding of the medical device and pharmaceutical packaging industry.


Accountable for:

Sales Management:

  • Overseeing and directing the sales team providing guidance, leadership, and mentoring
  • Provide strategic and tactical direction to the sales team driving growth and business goals
  • Build the healthcare sales team as the organization scales by planning, hiring, and training new sales team members
  • Prepares and analyzes sales budgets, projections, and sales funnel health
  • Developing and building relationships with key customers across multiple levels and functions of an account, across business units, and geographies
  • Provides input on strategic pricing opportunities, with the goal of maximizing margin
  • Involvement with pricing decisions and strategies for healthcare accounts
  • Identify and help create healthcare sales tools to improve effectiveness of the sales team at penetrating accounts and increasing the closing rate

Business and Strategic Development:

  • Collaborate with customers to understand unmet needs and business objectives, then work with healthcare organization to develop solutions and new technologies that will provide customers value in an everchanging marketplace
  • Identification of potential product platforms and products: Identify the market need, research the opportunities, and create the business case
  • Provide market insights to the healthcare organization through industry VOC's, conferences, networking, research, and benchmarking
  • Identify new market opportunities
  • Provide direction to business unit leadership on specific strategic initiatives and opportunities
  • Competitive Intelligence: Conduct and own competitive analysis of healthcare competitors

Marketing Responsibilities:

  • Work with the corporate marketing team to provide high level marketing input and direction
  • Determine which healthcare trade shows to exhibit and in what capacity
  • Coordinate with marketing team to deploy content based on annual calendar and brand messaging
  • Identify educational/brand building opportunities across the market that the PI team can participate. (Examples include conferences, seminars, trade shows, universities and other outreach opportunities that build brand and position PI as a thought leader)

Partnership Development:

  • Build partnerships across the healthcare industry focused on key target markets, this includes the full value chain. (Suppliers, equipment vendors, industry partners, etc.)
  • Support healthcare sustainability initiatives and industry groups

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field with five years of relevant experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly skilled at networking with an aptitude for building strong relationships
  • Strong time management skills
  • Strong commercial acumen, technical aptitude, and business knowledge
  • Willingness to travel as business and customer needs require (Approximately 50%)
