Nicewonder Properties is seeking a strong financial Controller with solid accounting know-how. In this role, the incumbent will work closely with the Nicewonder Family to provide the financial oversite for multiple businesses for several family members. The individual must be self-directed, and proficient in leading a team, influencing and directing the account activities across multiple sites. He/She will need to be proactive in identifying solutions for continual business improvement and optimization

As a controller, you will have responsibility for, financial reporting and analysis, for multiple locations in a family-owned entity. You will work closely with owners, site business leaders, and external auditors and agencies. This is a management role and you will be responsible for leading the staff, directing work, and contributing to strategy and growth planning. Previous accounting experience is a requirement for the position.

The ideal candidates must be able to multi-task, have schedule flexibility and work independently, as needed.

This position will be based in Bristol Virginia and will support all Nicewonder Property businesses across multiple states. Primary responsibility will be for the Virginian Golf and Country Club and Nicewonder Farm and Vineyards

Responsibilities

• Partner with business leaders and owners to develop and deploy strategies related to financial control, budget management, technology, and internal controls
• Drive the standardization of processes to make gains in efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness
• Manage accounting operations; Provide leadership to site finance administrators at the golf course and hotel
• Manage full-cycle accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and accounts payable functions
• Implement and monitor compliance with state and federal requirements
• Directly oversee accounting operations for the golf courses; prepare or review deliverables including the monthly financial package, cash flow forecasts, and balance sheet reconciliations. Support annual external audit process where applicable
• Demonstrated capability with budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, staff management
• Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision
• A multi-tasker that can work in multiple sets of books while meeting their required deadlines
• Reconciling bank accounts, posting journal entries, and balancing general and subsidiary ledger

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting or finance; and 8-10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and direct work
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Customer-focused and output driven
• Exceptional time management and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
• Accounting software applications experience
• Golf industry POS applications experience a plus
• CPA preferred, but not required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $110,000.00 per year
