Job Overview

Rigid Automation is seeking an experienced Controls Engineering Manager to join our growing team. The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading Rigid Automation’s engineering department, managing all aspects of controls engineering functions including support for manufacturing and repair workflows, development and management of technical data, engineering projects, and continuous improvement initiatives. Provides direction and example for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures related to engineering activities.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic planning and execution of all engineering related functions and responsibilities.
  • Performance Management and Development- Hire, train and advance the skills, capabilities, and knowledge base commensurate with the current and future core competencies required to support business objectives in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Infrastructure Development – Provide guidance, develop, and implement methods and tools as needed to support engineering functions and requirements.
  • Support Sales and Business Development efforts as needed.
  • Creation and Management of technical data as needed to support business objectives including 3D Modeling, CAD Drawings
  • Engineering Reports, Repair Instructions/Specifications
  • Understand and comply with internal, external, industry and regulatory requirements (UL508a, UL891, HazLoc, AS9100, etc.).
  • PLC Programming from various manufactures such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider Electric, etc.
  • HMI Design and Programming from various manufactures such as Allen-Bradly, Siemens, Pro-Face, etc.
  • Reading and interpreting logic flow diagram, cause & effects, functional descriptions, customer specifications, and electrical schematics.
  • Assist in any Factory Acceptance Testing with clients.
  • Create Controls Systems Concepts and Control Narratives for use in Submittals and O&M Manuals
  • Testing of programs using automation equipment for functional verification.
  • Providing guidance and support to the Technicians.
  • Offering training to the Technicians and other team members.
  • Work in coordination with Project Management and Production teams.
  • Estimating Programming hours for quotations.
  • Customer site visits and assessment of control system requirements.

Requirements

  • Must have experience programming with the following, Allen Bradley Studio 5000, Connected Components Workbench, Siemens TIA Portal, & Schneider Electric Unity Pro.
  • Must be able to leverage existing knowledge to quickly learn new PLC Software and Hardware.
  • Must have experience with various HMI and SCADA systems such as Pro-Face GP Pro, FactoryTalk View.
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and software principles.
  • Extensive knowledge of PLC programming languages such as ladder logic, function blocks, etc.
  • Exceptional logic reasoning and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
  • Excellent ability to work under no supervision.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as and when required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
