Job Description :

One of the premier construction companies on the East coast is currently looking for an experienced corporate controller. This position will oversee the preparation, management, consolidation, and analysis of accurate and complete business unit financials. The position, while focusing on the above accounting functions, will also lead the design, development and implementation of new automated financial and operational controls across the business units. The Controller will manage a team of Accountants for each business unit while maintaining a culture of success and growth.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Guides all Divisional financial functions and accounting/operational procedures
  • Manage all accounting functions, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Coordinate the preparation of projections, reports, and analyses for the month-end and quarter-end close processes
  • Developing the business plan and updating it every quarter and re-forecasting semiannually for presentation to Senior Leadership
  • Perform an analysis of GM, SG&A, and operating margin key company metrics
  • Ensures the successful implementation of strategic initiatives for a major function or area of the company
  • Participating in monthly meetings with the leadership team to discuss budget variances.
  • Managing and preparing the quarterly and annual budgets
  • Reviews of monthly journal entries, multi-divisional monthly division P&L, and variance analysis
  • Supports and prepares operational review analyses in partnership with Operations
  • Provide support to external CPAs for tax return preparation
  • Develop standardized processes for all aspects of operations in collaboration with regional division executives.
  • Manages a business unit, division, or corporate function with major organizational impact.
  • Provide support and coordination for back-office activities, including payroll, commissions, purchasing, construction coordination, and sales coordination
  • Participate in both the financial and operational segments of the company
  • Ensure compliance with internal corporate policies, controls, and procedures.
  • Analyzes construction operations and identifies opportunities for margin and cost reduction in areas such as revenue strategy, community timing and cost reduction for the management team.
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Have a solid understanding of the terms and principles used in traditional accounting and budgeting
  • Maintaining accuracy and completeness of data
  • Able to manage multiple priorities while focusing on detail orientation and effective time management
  • Ability to analyze data, use technology, communicate, and organize effectively.
  • Managing complex processes with a wide range of stakeholders with proven success
  • Experience communicating with senior operational and accounting leaders
  • Exceptional people and team-building skills

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 5-7 years of professional Accounting experience
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting and Finance practices including job costing and strategic planning.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Google platform with exceptional Google sheets skills (Excel expertise acceptable instead of GS)
  • Confident working closely with senior and corporate leadership
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP

Preferred

  • Experience in building/construction
  • M&A Analysis and implementation
  • ERP implementation experience (Sage, Netsuite, Dynamics)
  • Quickbooks

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
