Job Description:

GDIT is currently seeking a Desktop Engineer in Bethesda, Maryland, to join our team. In this role, you will be a change agent by supporting the National Institutes of Health on behalf of the Center for Information Technology (CIT) to help ensure the success of the NIH mission.

Tasks and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to the following:

• Administer, maintain, and operate endpoint management utilities (BigFix, Group Policy, and Microsoft Endpoint Manager) to manage the configuration on 2000 workstations, including Software Configuration Management, Settings Management, and to track Hardware Configurations.
• Create custom scripts for deployment, for remediation of issues, in conjunction with software deployments, or as standalone utilities.
• Provide tier three support as an escalation point for endpoint configuration-related issues.
• Document and evaluate technical issues and their workarounds or solutions.
• Assist in the creation and review of Standard Operating Procedures documenting Configuration Management practices.
• Administer Windows Print server and maintain a Lexmark configuration baseline
• Perform Windows application packaging and deployment, using large-scale system management tools to manage software deployments for a user base of approximately 2000 internal and external customers.
• Create change records using ServiceNow for all changes made to workstations

Required Skills:

• BS/BA Computer Sciences or related field and minimum 3 years or related experience or additional experience in lieu of education requirements.
• Experience reading and interpreting Windows system, application logs, and third-party application log files.
• Experience in HCL BigFix Administration
• Experience with managing printers and print servers.
• Knowledge of Bash/Shell scripting, Windows PowerShell scripting, or general scripting experience.
• Experience creating workaround communications and knowledge base documents.
• Experience working with change control in a large enterprise environment

Desired Skills:

• Experience with SCCM or other Endpoint Management Suites.
• ITIL v4 certification
• Experience with enterprise Anti-Virus solutions
