JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/Objective
The Director of Marketing & Communication is responsible for planning and implementing marketing strategies, ad-buys, contract development and management, website oversight, and product development programs, both short and long range. These responsibilities should be targeted toward existing and new markets by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
Essential Functions

1. Develops and implements strategic marketing plans.
2. Develops and manages marketing operating budgets.
3. Plans and oversees advertising and promotion activities including print, online, electronic media, and direct mail.
4. Ensures effective control of marketing results; takes corrective action to guarantee that achievement of marketing objectives falls within designated budgets.
5. Oversees and evaluates market research and adjusts marketing strategy to meet changing market and competitive conditions.
6. Monitors competitor products, sales, and marketing activities.
7. Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.
8. Guides preparation of marketing activity reports and presents to executive management.
9. Establishes and maintains a consistent corporate image throughout all promotional materials and events.
10. Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control marketing programs.
11. Analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements.
12. Assists other departments within organization to prepare manuals and technical publications.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all employees of the marketing department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms and requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 20 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Due to the nature and level of this position, hours outside of office hours are expected.
Travel
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field and 3-6 years of experience in the Travel and Tourism
Industry.
