Position Title: Director of Operations for the Yankee Companies Independent Spent
Fuel Storage Installations (ISFSIs)

Reports To: President

Location: A Yankee Companies’ ISFSI Site (Wiscasset, ME, Rowe, MA, or Haddam,
CT) or, Agreed Upon Remote Base Location

Job Tasks:

  • Effectively manages regulatory interfaces in a way that constantly builds the trust and confidence of any regulatory body. Even if there is not agreement between the regulator and the Yankee Companies organization. Understands the range of regulatory interfaces and is responsible to ensure compliance with the organization’s regulatory requirements.
  • Drives operational effectiveness and is constantly seeking ways to become more efficient while maintaining the effectiveness of the organization.
  • Makes sure that all operational programs such as Training, Continuous

Improvement, and Security are working well and are on a path to excellence.

  • Understands and helps manage the license termination process.
  • Is responsible for helping drive the employee development efforts and career pathing of all operational employees.
  • Provides leadership in the implementation of an effective Safety Conscious Work

Environment (SCWE) and a robust Condition Reporting Program.

  • Understands the legal challenges and interfaces of the operations organization.
  • Is a leader of people who has great capability to understand the challenges with those around them. Has the ability to demonstrate empathy and the emotional intelligence to consistently deliver a powerful inspirational message.
  • Is a team builder who can develop great teams and enable those teams to execute at a high level, resolving issues and problems.

  • Provides oversight and leadership to each of the ISFSI’s daily operations through the ISFSI Managers.
  • Provides oversight and leadership of the Program Managers through the

Assistant Director of Operations

  • Provides oversight of and ensures a high level of performance from the

Contracted Security Force through the ISFSI Managers.

  • Develops budgets and monitors costs for the Yankee Companies and leads daily operations relative to effective and prudent budget performance through the

ISFSI Managers.

Qualifications (Required and Desired):

Required:

The position of the Director of Operations shall meet the following minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree graduate from an accredited engineering or science college or university, or the equivalent in practical experience. A master’s degree in engineering or business management is considered equivalent to two years of experience.
  • Extensive (20+ years) operations and project experience within the nuclear power generation industry.
  • Fifteen (15) or more years in leadership positions.
  • Proficient in developing culture and organization systems.

Desired:

  • Experience with spent nuclear fuel loading and dry fuel storage operations for nuclear power plants and ISFSIs.
  • Experience in ISFSI licensing with focus on Security and Emergency Planning.
  • Diverse knowledge of the other various key technical areas necessary to support

ISFSI operations, maintenance, and technical specifications.

Pay: $175,000.00 - $270,000.00 per year
