We’re looking for a data-driven Email Marketing Manager, part Data Analyst / part Marketer, to drive the strategy and execution of the email, SMS and messaging channels. You’ll have the opportunity to lead a high-impact customer marketing channel, with support of internal and external teams, to create compelling, highly-relevant email campaigns at one of the largest computer and electronics retailers in the country.

You should be very comfortable with digging into the email database to analyze data, build reports and create customer segments. You should have previous experience running the email marketing platform, scheduling campaigns and building journeys. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and execute the marketing strategy and campaign calendar for customer marketing communication channels, primarily Email and SMS
  • Work with your internal and external teams to deliver high-response, relevant email blasts and trigger campaigns
  • Leverage your data, tools, teams and experience to increase customer retention and transaction response rates using a data-driven approach
  • Maintain a deep understanding of our email marketing database, including typical email KPIs, Active/Lapsed/Dormant segments, and be able to make recommendations of how we can improve the health
  • Lead team of email and graphic designers, external partners and vendors
  • Support broader company goals with the customer marketing communication channels
  • Partner with Merchandising to design the most compelling email possible for our customers and be able to spot good design from bad design
  • Own the entire email production process (plan, content recommendation, proofing, scheduling, audience creation/segmentation, targeting, results) and be able to execute personally as necessary
  • Create audiences through data tables/filters and schedule campaigns daily
  • Be able to run ad-hoc reports, analyze them and deliver insights to senior leaders
  • Manage email deliverability and compliance with opt-in laws and regulations
  • Maintain an ongoing testing schedule to help drive improvement
  • Develop the email marketing budget, forecast and control expenses
  • Be able to write compelling subject lines, titles, and subtitles when necessary
  • Seek ways to make the email production and reporting process more efficient
  • Keep pace with consumer, technology, and strategic changes that impact goals


RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports directly to the VP, Marketing Operations, partners with Merchandising for daily campaigns and IT for technical development

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Preferred Educational Level: BA/BS or Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science or related field
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of email marketing—metrics, industry and best practices
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in email marketing strategic role
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working directly with enterprise email marketing platform to schedule, create audience and import data (Oracle, Salesforce, Epsilon, Cheetah)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading a team
  • Expert knowledge of MS Excel, including pivot tables, charts, and formulas
  • Knowledge and expertise in various software programs and database systems (HTML, Responsive design, SQL, MS Excel, and MS Access)
  • Experience analyzing, manipulating and extracting insights from large datasets
  • Preferred experience with Oracle Responsys Campaign Management Platform
  • Preferred intermediate SQL querying ability and understanding of relational databases
  • Experience with Google Analytics, Customer Data Platform or similar
  • Experience working with external data processors and suppliers
  • Experience with SMS marketing and APIs is a plus
  • Experience in a fast-paced retail environment is a plus
  • Strong analytical and logical thinking ability, while still being able to articulate your thoughts in an easy to understand manner
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communications skills
  • Attention to detail, independent thinker, and ability to recognize patterns and anomalies in data
  • Good project management and organizational skills; ability to work within tight deadlines
