We seek a highly motivated engineer or scientist to support the rapid growth of our R&D capacity. You will work in an office/laboratory setting to develop innovative products for our own portfolio and to develop custom formulations that meet design requirements of specific applications driven by customers. This is a fast-paced research environment with a large and continually evolving collection of goals and tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Realizing opportunities for improvements to materials, processes, and analytical methods, and organizing projects to evaluate those improvements.
• Providing answers and solutions to technical questions posed daily from our customers.
• Communicating with customers to define critical-to-quality parameters of materials for specific applications.
• Utilizing the scientific method, experimental design, statistical analysis, and knowledge of structure-property relationships to develop custom thermoplastic formulations.
• Analyzing physical properties of developmental materials using techniques such as rheology, FTIR, DSC, GPC, and mechanical testing (tensile, flex, tear, adhesion, coefficient, impact, hardness, etc.).
• Collaborating with R&D Staff to service customers with formulations recommendations, process guidance, or root cause analysis.
• Applying formulation and industry knowledge to best service the medical device market with innovative materials.
• Prioritizing tasks and managing a project team to meet timelines according to business goals.
• Writing technical responses in the form of emails, whitepapers, datasheets, marketing content, etc. as needed to support customer inquiries or product launches.

Requirements

• Preferably 3+ years of experience with thermoplastics formulation, plastics processed with twin-screw extrusion technology, or in other positions within the medical device supply chain.
• B.S. or higher in Materials Science/Engineering, Polymer Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry.
• Attention to detail and validity of measurements.
• Efficient communication and time management.
• Curiosity, continuous motivation to learn, accountability, and persistent work ethic.
• Follows instructions clearly asks questions, offers relevant information, and maintains productive relationships with colleagues.
