Constructed in 1888 by the Masons, the Bayview Opera House Ruth Williams Memorial Theatre (known affectionately as "the Opera House") is located at 4705 Third Street in the heart of the Bayview Hunters Point district - San Francisco's most ethnically diverse community.
The Opera House is San Francisco's oldest theater and a registered historical landmark. However, the Opera House is more than just a building. Operated as a community cultural and art center by the nonprofit Bayview Opera House, Inc., with funding from San Francisco Art Commission and other public and private donations, Bayview Opera House is a vital community institution for Bayview residents and holds a significant place in the history and culture of Bayview Hunters Point.
Job Description
Bayview Opera House is accepting applications for the position of Director of Finance. The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the company's general ledger, producing financial reports for all internal and external financial statement users, and supervising the day-to-day operations of the financial reporting and accounting functions for the organization. S/he will manage budget oversight and actual expenses for the operating fund and grant programs. This position reports to the Executive Director. Nonprofit Finance, as well as progressive supervisory experience, is required.
Key Responsibilities
Manage accounting staff on accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards, regulatory requirements, and rules for non-profits
Direct annual audits and serve as the principal liaison to the external auditor
Supervise grants administration, accounting, and budgeting
Provide advice and counsel regarding financial issues and controls to the Executive Director and or Board of Directors
Oversees organization's general ledger and budget management functions, including preparation of the annual budget
Prepare monthly and annual financial statements for review (including explanations for variance analysis) and prepares cash flow analysis
Provides financial reports and analyses to the Board of Directors
Maintains compliance with accounting standards, government regulations, and tax laws
Develops procedures and systems for use in ensuring financial control and availability of data for analysis
Administers endowment funds and investment portfolio
Assists, as assigned by management, with the organization's disaster response efforts
Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Nonprofit experience required
Minimum of five years of progressive financial management and supervisory experience

Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Management, or related discipline. Master’s Degree preferred.
Physical Requirements
With or without reasonable accommodation, employees in this position must be able to sit and type at a computer terminal for up to 8 hours per day with appropriate breaks and perform tasks that require fine dexterity and repetitive motions using the arms, hands, wrists, and fingers.
