Job Description :

DiGioia Gray is seeking an experienced Geophysicist to work out of our Pittsburgh, PA or Phoenix, AZ office. This Senior Geophysicist will focus on all aspects of geophysical investigations from office planning to field execution and deliverable development in support of power delivery and civil infrastructure projects.

What you will do:

  • Manage all aspects of geotechnical projects including cost estimates, resource planning, project teams, site characterizations, schedules, scope, budget, and writing & analyzing data reports
  • Potential to create and supervise a team within the geotechnical group
  • Perform seismic refraction, MASW, and/or refraction microtremor (Re/Mi) surveys
  • Perform additional field assignments such as, but not necessarily limited to, site reconnaissance, test boring observation and logging, geologic field data collection, and construction monitoring
  • Review, analyze and interpret geophysical data and present those results and interpretative recommendations in a clear and concise report
  • Perform office assignments (geologic research, map development, report writing, analysis/computations, boring logs, field reports, and other documents related to the work)
  • Clearly and readily communicate with owners, contractors, and colleagues to proactively resolve potential field and design issues
  • Prepare geophysical reports and collaborate with the project team to support larger client deliverables
  • Conduct project work in a collaborative manner with a philosophy of continual improvement and ownership of recommendations
  • Overnight travel as needed to support projects
  • Assists on other tasks as required
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds

What you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, Geophysical Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on applied geophysical methods.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Geophysicist
  • Have earned or be able to earn your PG license
  • Experience in civil engineering, oil & gas, power delivery, and other similar markets
  • At least 2 years of experience performing Project Management duties
  • Supervisory experience, or the desire to be a Supervisor, including mentoring, coaching, training and guiding direct reports in their career growth as well as conducting regular one-on-one meetings and annual performance reviews

It would be even better if you had:

  • Master’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, Geophysical Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience with geophysics or closely related field in a consulting services environment
