Job Description :

The Grants Accountant is key part of Homage’s team responsible for supporting the financial management and compliance of Homage grants and contracts. The accountant is responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of awards by refining policies, systems, and trainings that oversee award administrative, financial, and logistical areas of grant compliance. The accountant provides technical accounting, budget and other administrative support for Program Managers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates the centralized accounting and financial reporting for assigned grants, including preparing annual and project budgets, forecasting revenue, estimating carry-over of funds from one year to next.
  • Monitor, analyze, and maintain financial transactions and accounting for a wide variety of social service programs funded by Federal, state, and local grants and allocations
  • Maintain a system of financial accounting, reporting, and record keeping in accordance to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Reviews and approves journal entries for program managers, assigns account codes and monitors charges for reasonableness and compliance with funder policies and procedures
  • Research issues, prepares invoices/billings and collects funds for the support of restricted fund expenditures
  • Track revenues and expenditures by funding source and/or subcontract. Reconcile grant and program financial statements by fund.
  • Maintains knowledge of internal control requirements
  • Cross train on other Finance Department functions and maintain flexibility to take on new tasks as needs change
  • Work collaboratively across teams to prioritize updates to policies and SOPs related to compliance, contracting, and award management
  • Partner with Senior Grants Analyst and Data Reporting Analyst on budget system and financial visualization tools to strengthen budgeting data availability
  • Audit adherence to policies to determine where gaps in tools and training exist; perform escalation protocols
  • Ensure correct set-up, review, approval, and system upload of budgets for new opportunities
  • Work with funding authorities to correct or adjust outages
  • Prepare grant close-out reports
  • Prepare projections and forecast cash needs within programs in collaboration with Senior Grants Analyst and Data Reporting Analyst
  • Prepare financial projections for RFPs
  • Submits application for indirect cost rate
  • Attends professional development training and stays current on grant management related audit requirements, federal regulations, state laws and funder policies
  • Regular and routine attendance
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • One to three years of general ledger accounting and grant accounting experience
  • Effective written and verbal communication in English
  • Effective working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint); comfortable navigating in Microsoft Windows environment and using internet browsers.
  • Must be fully vaccinated per program or agency requirements.

Work environment and physical demands:

  • This work is typically performed in an office setting; functions are usually performed sitting but may spend some amount of time standing.
  • Some amount of bending, lifting, walking, carrying and other movements may be required.
  • Must be able to interact with people, computers, and office equipment to perform the Essential Duties and Responsibilities, with or without accommodations.
  • Work may include local travel during normal business hours, and occasional travel for training/conference attendance.
  • Occasional after hours or weekend events may be required.
  • This is a hybrid position; during training the expectation is 4 days/week onsite and after training 3 days/week onsite at our Lynnwood, WA offices.

SUMMARY OF BENEFITS

Employees working 25 hours or more are eligible to enroll in medical, dental, vision, basic life, and critical illness insurance. Employees scheduled for 25-29 hours per week are considered part time and eligible to enroll with an increased cost-share. Employees working 20 hours or more per week receive 11 designated paid holidays plus 2 "floating holidays", and new hires accrue Vacation time at a rate of approx. 1 hour for every 18 worked (approx. 15 days per year). All employees accrue Sick time at a rate of approx. 1 hour for every 22 worked (approx. 12 days per year). Employees age 21 and older are able to enroll in our 401K plan immediately upon hire and, after one year worked and at least 1000 hours worked, will be eligible for our matching program.

New hires are typically budgeted to begin in the $28-33/hour range, depending upon experience.
