Dale Howard Auto Center has been serving North Central Iowa for over 47 years and possesses a large customer base. The Iowa Falls & Waverly locations combined employ over 50 team members. The individual who accepts this opportunity will be responsible for serving the team members at both the Iowa Falls and Waverly locations. Some travel will be required on a weekly basis.

JOB PURPOSE

Add value to the organization and team members by implementing & coordinating company HR policies and programs, employment/staffing, onboarding, employee/labor relations,and benefit administration. Supports management with investigations, safety and workers compensation where applicable.

RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS

  • Reviews employment applications, pre-screen interviews, refers qualified job applicants to managers, assists with job offers, onboards new hires following all company policies, processes and procedures and assist with new hire orientation as needed.
  • Prepares or maintains employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resources management system software.
  • Uses clear and effective communications with minimal supervision.
  • Resolves questions/concerns of employees by providing information on processes and the related policies and referring to others where necessary for interpretation of policy.
  • Works within established policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company policies, local, state and federal regulations.
  • Provides advice and guidance to management in documenting and communicating solutions (including disciplinary action if applicable) for employee issues.
  • Build effective working relationships within the organization, delivering high-quality professional services with guidance from management.
  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute to organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it related to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants , particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Handles employment -related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Must have a basic understanding of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and laws, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

  • Maintains and updates human resources documents, such as organizational charts, employee handbooks or directories, or performance evaluation forms.
  • Manage and provide new employee/benefit orientation and assist employees with FMLA as needed.
  • Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering HR Policies & Procedures and helping resolve work-related problems where applicable.
  • Advise managers on organizational policy matters, such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment, and recommend needed changes.
  • Ability to identify the team's individual development needs. Plans and implement actions, including continuing professional development to build their professional capabilities. Provide informal training or coaching to the team and others throughout the organization in their own area of expertise to enable others to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

  • A minimum of three years of human resource management experience is preferred.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly desired.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
