We are looking for a full-time, salary exempt, Infection Prevention Nurse & Staff Educator to join our Nurse Leadership Team. Duties include planning, developing, directing, implementing, and evaluating the Infection prevention & control activities in relation to disease transmission and infection control initiatives for residents and employees in collaboration with MD and DON. Provides nursing care to residents as prescribed by the physician. Oversees and directs nursing staff development activities. Coordinates and evaluates the education program for all facility staff.

Applicants for the Infection Prevention Nurse & Staff Educator position must be a Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Hawaii with management experience. Position usually works Monday through Friday, but must be willing to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends) to accommodate staff training on all shifts.

Duties and Responsibilities: Duties are determined by the Company’s needs and may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Develops, implements & evaluates education materials.
• Coordinate the infection prevention and control program of the facility.
• Review infection prevention and control policies and procedures and make recommendations for revision.
• Provide training and education related to infection control.
• Monitor compliance through observations, audits, checklists, and other means.
• Review and analyze infection control data, risk factors, and as needed, perform special studies that relate to infection prevention and control.
• Communicate with the facility-level QAPI Committee, public health, other agencies and other facilities as applicable after consultation with Director of Nursing.
• Provide mentorship and education for our Licensed Staff on all shifts to supervise the Staff Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs).
• Implements and oversees Nurse Preceptor program for Licensed staff.
• Plans, conducts and coordinates educational in-services with the content reflecting required educational needs and objectives of the facility.
• Plans, organizes, and implements orientation program for all new licensed nursing staff and other new employees as necessary.
• Assist appropriate leaders to ensure all staff are meeting competency expectations.
• Maintains & coordinates master training schedule for all departments.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program and currently licensed as a RN in the State of Hawaii
• At least five (5) years of clinical experience in healthcare, preferably in a Long Term Care setting.
• Current CPR Certification required.
• Infection Control certification preferred.
• Teaching and Training experience preferred.
• Ability to develop policies and procedures as well as implement and monitor staff follow through
• Outstanding organizational, leadership skills, and excellent communication required
