Papich Construction is currently conducting a search for an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST to join our team. Since 1997, Papich Construction has helped build communities throughout California as a respected full-service general engineering contractor. This is a full-time position with benefits, on-premise based out of our office in Arroyo Grande, CA. Travel to our multiple locations/job sites is required.

Responsible for the strategy, operation, and maintenance of computerized information and related systems; provide recommendations for the implementation of new systems; serve as the Company’s Systems Administrator; troubleshoot system problems and make repairs as needed; provide training on computer systems and software applications; and assist in budget preparation for the Information Technology department.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate activities of the Information Technology department including customer support, operations, network infrastructure, telecommunications, cyber security, and desktop support.
  • Monitor computer system operations and use; perform overall maintenance and make necessary repairs; schedule complex maintenance or repairs with outside vendors; ensure adherence to contract guidelines.
  • Monitor network security and performance; identify unauthorized access and potential security risks; participate in projects to enhance network security operations.
  • Serve as the Company’s System Administrator; set up and administration of all Company servers and network components; establish and maintain system backup procedures.
  • Serve as technical lead for all technology related projects.
  • Design, install and support LAN’s and WAN’s.
  • Install and configure PC’s and automation hardware.
  • Purchase hardware and software for Company use.
  • Develop, coordinate and conduct in-house training on computer systems and associated hardware and software components.
  • Provide user support services; respond to questions for assistance; resolve and/or troubleshoot operational problems.
  • Prepare, administer, and evaluate department operating budget.
  • Administer, establish, and document, policies, standards, and procedures for company-wide technologies.
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends in information technology service delivery and develop recommendations to apply new approaches to meet the needs of Company departments.
  • Coordinate disposition of surplus equipment pursuant to Company policies.
  • Respond to emergency requests outside of normal business hours.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field or equivalent work experience
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable MVR (clean motor vehicle record)
  • 3-5 years proven experience working in a corporate IT environment
  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP certification
  • VMware/AWS certification
  • Experience with ERP systems desired
  • Understanding or experiencing with REST/SOAP API
  • Experience negotiating IT based contracts/procurement
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and applications of information technology tools, including planning and development of information and telecommunications systems; cyber security, and trends in business and management information systems technology
  • Microsoft 365, online email services, Active Directory, and SQL server
  • Knowledge of hybrid environments, specifically VMware/Azure/AWS
  • Experience with multi location networks, LAN/WAN design, VPN interoperability
  • Experience with Large scale WLAN utilizing Cisco/Meraki networking line
  • Understanding and experience with PowerShell
  • Network-based services including printing, back-ups, and anti-ransomware
  • Methods and techniques used in the installation, troubleshooting, upgrading and problem resolution of information systems hardware, software, and peripheral devices
  • System documentation
  • Personal computer hardware and software components
  • Principals of hardware and software configuration and installation
  • Perform other related duties as may be requested/required
