JOB DESCRIPTION

IDENTIFICATION:

Job Title: Intake Therapist

Reports to: Intake Team Supervisor

Department: Intake

Grade: Union – 13 or 14

Type: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides video and face-to-face triage, crisis intervention, brief therapeutic interventions, and initial assessments to consumers requesting services. Develops interim treatment plan for consumers accessing services. Provides consultation to internal and external consumers. Conducts hospitalization pre-screens at various community sites.


EDUCATION: Master’s Degree in an appropriate mental health discipline.


EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE: Two or more years’ experience providing treatment to individuals with a mental illness. Experience in treating individuals with substance use disorders preferred. Excellent computer and interpersonal skills, punctuality, ability to organize and manage several projects/tasks simultaneously, and work independently.


LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS: Licensed by the Michigan Department of Commerce or Professional Regulation as a Master's Social Worker, Limited Licensed Psychologist and/or Counselor. Preferred candidates will possess CAADC or eligible for Development Plan. Must become fully licensed with-in 30 months of date of hire.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs duties in accordance with agency standards of conduct and ethics
  • Complies with all applicable BMHA policies and procedures
  • Present and prepared on time for work, meetings, and events
  • Participates in required trainings and supervision
  • Maintains required licensure and/or certification
  • Maintains confidentiality for all information regarding consumers and staff of BMHA
  • Assist in assuring BMHA compliance with all related regulatory body requirements and accreditation requirements

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs assessments and completes documentation in a manner which meets payor, regulatory, or agency requirements
  • Completes brief assessment, crisis intervention and pre-screens as deemed appropriate
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of population specific diagnosis and displays the ability to gather, interpret data, and provide treatment in a manner that is consistent with treatment standards and best practice guidelines
  • Applies culturally competent Recovery based practices
  • Provides a trauma informed culture of safety to aid individuals in their recovery process
  • Implements person centered planning as a shared decision-making process with the individual, who defines their own life goals and is assisted in developing a unique path toward reaching the goals
  • Completes documentation in a manner which meets payor, regulatory, or agency requirements
  • Implements treatment through various therapeutic modalities such as individual, family, and group therapies
  • Completes the CAFAS/PECFAS, LOCUS or ASAM within agency time frames
  • Refers and links consumers to appropriate service (internal/external) programs. Consults with other services/agencies around case-specific and programmatic issues
  • Back up to Access Center Therapist
  • Performs other duties as assigned

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS:

  • Provides billable or non-billable 75% of the time annually
  • Completes assessments within three business day after service is rendered, 95% of the time
  • No more than 5 instances of services will be written off due to clinician error will occur annually
  • Maintains an average rating on the Intake Consumer Satisfaction surveys twice yearly
  • Completes the Intake Assessment within 1 hour and 15 minutes, 90% of the time
