Interventional Radiology Advanced Practice Nurse in Chicagoland Area

Central Illinois Radiological Associates (CIRA) is an independent, physician-owned private radiology group practice with 100+ physicians providing comprehensive medical imaging and interventional services to ambulatory facilities, clinics, and hospitals throughout Illinois and in Michigan. We are currently recruiting a full time Advanced Practice Nurse to join our team of vascular and interventional radiology professionals at our Riverside Medical Center location in Kankakee, Illinois.

Responsibilities include:

 Serves as an extension of the radiologist, utilizing their knowledge of clinical medicine and radiology to thoroughly assess and care for each patient.
 Performs minor procedures under the interventional radiologist supervision including but not limited to ultrasound guided paracentesis, thoracentesis, central lines, dialysis catheters.
 Performs hospital consultations and H&P’s for patients referred for interventional radiology services.
 Participates in the procedural consent process by educating patients and families regarding planned procedures, their attendant risks and answers any questions that arise.
 Ensures all appropriate pre-procedure imaging studies and labs have been obtained and are appropriate, all medical adjustments such as IV hydration, diet orders, changes in medications such as Insulin, etc., pre-procedure medications for contrast allergy, antibiotics, etc. have been made.
 Enters orders for any testing and follow up procedures to be scheduled as needed.
 Performs patient assessments including medical histories, physical exams and rounding on interventional radiology patients post procedure. Collaborates with the physician to develop an appropriate plan of care.
 Serves as a liaison between hospital providers, staff and the IR section.
 Dictates clinical notes and documents patient care services in the electronic health record system.

Qualifications

 Licensed to provide either Physician Assistant services or Advanced Practice Nursing services in the State of Illinois.

 Licensed by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration and State of Illinois.

 Previous experience in Radiology, ICU, Emergency, Surgery, Cardiology or related field preferred.

 Strong interpersonal and communication skills to cultivate relationships with our hospital partners, providers, employees, patients and vendors.

 Works independently to achieve objectives in established time frames.

 Maintains strict confidentiality and patient privacy.

 Ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet the current needs of work as necessary.
