Minnesota Valley Electric Cooperative (MVEC), a progressive south west metro member-owned utility with 100 employees, is seeking an IT Application and Data Specialist to join the team.

The IT Application and Data Specialist supports MVEC’s IT applications, data, and business intelligence environments. Responsible for lifecycle management of business applications including: application support, database maintenance and software upgrades. Will analyze data to provide insightful, actionable information utilizing a strong data background including SQL, database architecture, report & dashboard development, and experience with Business Intelligence Applications. Maintains security of these applications while ensuring a positive and productive end user experience. Assists the IT Systems Analyst with supporting client-side applications, as well as backing up the IT Business Consultant with iVue, report development and system integrations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Applications - Implement, maintain, upgrade, and support IT applications, scripting and coding. Responsible for aligning capabilities with business needs, user training, security, and overall application performance.
• Data - Maintain database health, work with vendors to ensure application specific database performance, security and backups. Business Intelligence - reporting and visualization of data.
• Assist IT Business Consultant with back-end system integrations, maintaining conceptual data-flow model for systems integrations, and ensuring overall data integrity.
• Work with team members on process improvements, system upgrades, and changes. Training them on what's new to ensure efficiency of Cooperative applications.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in IT, MIS, Computer or Data Science or related field and 4 years related work experience OR Bachelor’s degree in IT, MIS, Computer or Data Science or related field
• Knowledgeable in business analysis, data analysis, and application analysis
• Working knowledge of IT software, hardware and basic networking
• Working knowledge of relational databases, design methodologies, extraction, transformation and loading of data. Knowledge to create data queries via scripting or via SQL or T-SQL
• Working knowledge of database administration and report development
• Ability to quickly learn, master, and teach others about MVEC business applications
• Strong business acumen - very articulate and able to communicate effectively at all levels
• Support advanced technologies, apply analytical problem solving, and implement process enhancements that improve business operations
• Project Management knowledge or experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Basic experience and abilities to use Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Experience with Energy Utilities
• Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office O365 (SharePoint, Power Platform)
• Knowledge of scripting or coding – examples (DAX, Python, Power FX, JavaScript) coding (C#, Visual Basic, Java)
• Knowledge of SQL Server Management Studio/Visual Studio
• Experience with business application support

Potential for future hybrid work schedule after one year of employment. Office located in Jordan, Minnesota.
