IT Support Technician Job Description:
We are looking for a dedicated self-starter to fill the position of an IT Support Technician I. This individual’s primary goal is to deliver the desired level of superior customer service. This candidate will provide daily technical support either on-site or remotely. The ideal candidate will strive to provide service that improves customer satisfaction, maximizes customer retention, and increases profitability. They will be expected to demonstrate exceptional interpersonal and communications skills, along with employing listening abilities to the benefit of the customer at all times. We are searching for an enthusiastic team player who thrives on hands-on technical work and is motivated by solving technical challenges in a fast-paced environment. It is imperative that they approach this opportunity with energy, enthusiasm, and integrity.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide superior service and customer support.
  • Inherent ability to tie workflow to schedule. Expected to be prompt to all service calls with customers.
  • Manage all on-site installation, repair, and maintenance. Including but not limited to: network computers, printers, switches, routers, and other rack mounted equipment as needed.
  • Able to diagnose errors or technical problems, through knowledge or research, and determine proper solutions.
  • Document processes and contribute to ongoing Knowledge Base.
  • Operate a vehicle in a safe manner.
  • Comprehend customer requirements and make appropriate recommendations/briefings.
  • Foster positive relationships with customers.
  • Go “above and beyond” for the client: provide extra follow up, make phone calls and visits, remain visible; provide constant communication; demonstrate a helpful, service attitude.
  • Provide end user training on devices or functionality, as required.
  • Accurately and promptly track and update service calls in helpdesk ticketing system, ensuring information is clear, thorough, and professional.
  • Work with the Systems Engineer to design, install, maintain, and coordinate corporate and external customers’ networks. Implements and coordinates network policies and standards to ensure customer’s networks are secure and day-to-day operation is smooth.
  • Assist the Systems Engineer with configuration, maintenance, and monitoring of servers, routers, and other network related services. DNS, VPN, web, LDAP, e-mail, and network monitoring.
  • Install, configure, and maintain common end user application software.

Requirements:

  • 1+ years of professional experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems.
  • 1+ years of professional experience with computer network management (firewalls, routers, and switches).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
  • 1+ years of field service experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with a Managed Service Provider is a plus.
  • VMware/Microsoft Hyper-V experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Office 365 administration is preferred.
  • VoIP experience is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of RMM and PSA tools a plus.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and service technical equipment.
  • Ability to research and obtain solutions to technical issues you cannot resolve.
  • Working knowledge of networking technologies, (e.g. TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6, DNS, etc.).
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts to adapt to changing work schedules, including participation in the “on-call” rotation.
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) is preferred.
  • Technical degree or CompTIA A+ certification is a plus.
  • Network+ certification is a plus.
  • Must be willing to travel with personal vehicle up to 50% of the time (reimbursed for mileage).

  • Work is performed indoors and/or outdoors.
  • Requires ability to travel with personal vehicle.
  • Physical effort required: walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting and/or carrying objects that may weigh up to 50 lbs., moderate dexterity, and the regular application of basic skills (calculator, keyboard, hand tools, eye/hand coordination); environment may be fast paced and stressful on occasion.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
