Jr. Staff Accountant / Staff Accountant
Reports to CFO

Works closely with other accounting staff, purchasing, sales, and receiving.

Full-Time Position in our SLO office | Mon-Fri, 7am-4pm or 8am-5pm

Job Description

The primary function is to ensure that the accounting practices and policies are followed by the Accounting Clerk and to assist the CFO with various accounting functions, including month end close, audits, and payroll.

We are looking for someone who is eager to learn and wants to grow within the company and in their accounting career.

Responsibilities

• Review and assist in AP invoice entries and AR deposit entries done by the Accounting Clerk
• Perform credit card reconciliations
• Maintain W-9s and Certificates of Liability
• Prepare annual 1099s
• Process payroll via Paycom and associated invoice entries
• Follow up on payroll tax issues and ensure resolution
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts for month-end; analyze for issues
• Prepare and enter journal entries for month-end
• Maintain fixed asset binder in soft copy form
• Prepare weekly check run file for disbursement and positive pay upload
• Review aged receivables and payables for timely payment
• Other administrative and accounting duties as needed

Required Skills and Experience

• 3-5 years full-cycle accounts receivable experience
• 3-5 years full-cycle accounts payable experience
• 1-2 years month end close experience, including JEs and account recs
• 1-2 years banking experience, including wires/ACHs and bank recs
• 1-2 years payroll experience
• Good GAAP knowledge, including assets, depreciation, and prepaid amortization experience in an accrual-based environment
• Strong computer skills including proven Excel skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Self-motivated
• Able to work seamlessly with co-workers in a collaborative manner
• Ability to prioritize and multitask
• Perform calmly under pressure and deadlines
• Extremely strong attention to detail
• Eager to learn and grow within the company
• High School diploma at minimum; some college courses in Accounting or related field a huge plus
• Sense of humor and flexibility while keeping policies in mind is important

• Management experience overseeing junior staff
• Advanced or intermediate Excel and Word experience
• PayPal and credit card payment processing experience
• Intercompany transaction experience
• Google Drive/G-Suite experience
• Manufacturing experience
• NetSuite experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or working toward it
• A passion for off-road, automotive, or wheeling

Compensation for this position is $23-28/hr DOE and this is a non-exempt position.
