Job Description

Ventana School is searching for an elementary PE teacher (K-5) for the 2023-2024 school year starting in August, 2023. This is a lead teaching position responsible for monitoring and supporting students' physical development through collaborative games, team sports, and motor lab experiences. Our PE teachers work closely with other teachers to help monitor and support students’ social-emotional progress and conflict-resolution skills. We are seeking an energetic, committed educator who knows how to collaborate, communicate thoughtfully, and has a good understanding of the developmental needs of elementary students.

Essential Expectations

Elementary teachers are expected to maintain a democratic, creative environment in which meaningful learning and personal growth are fostered through a variety of active learning experiences.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Providing whole group instruction.
• Leading daily extended care sports clinics and supervision
• Implementing classroom management strategies that draw on children’s strengths and participation.
• Introducing a range of physical activities from motor lab activities to collaborative group games.
• Differentiating for individual student needs.
• Collaborating with teachers and the Director of Elementary Education.
• Monitoring student progress through consistent observations.
• Facilitating conflict resolution strategies, with a view of the child as ‘competent’ in both solving problems and contributing to solutions.
• Providing recess and lunch supervision.
• Writing bi-annual report cards

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
