About the Job

We are seeking a motivated Design Engineer to join our team and become a key contributor to our continued rapid growth. Responsibilities include designing new products, improving existing products, developing specifications and marketing materials for products, and supporting the factory. The Design Engineer should be a self-starter who can complete assigned work with minimal supervision, operates with strong attention to detail, and enjoys being part of a great team. This position will report directly to the Design Engineering Manager.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Design new products in SolidWorks that our factories can use to produce prototypes and products efficiently and accurately.
• Collaborate with manufacturing to understand production capabilities and limitations so that the product design is producible at the target costs and quality.
• Improve time to market with innovative, effective designs with minimal mistakes.
• Work with different departments to implement design improvements to existing products and help resolve issues found in the factory during production.
• Drive resolution of product issues by identifying the product and the issue, proposing solutions and alternatives, testing options, and applying the optimal long-term solution.
• Create and update product models, installation instructions, specifications, drawings, renderings, labels, catalog, and website data.
• Create product related data for our enterprise resources planning system.
• Assist in the development of our product library.
• Undertake special projects as required.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Great attention to detail and organizational skills
• Superb written and verbal communication skills
• SolidWorks proficiency is a must; experience with Solidworks PDM is a plus
• Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office are a must
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes
• Strong fundamental engineering skills, a willingness to learn, and flexibility are key to being successful in this role

Education and Employment Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• At least 3 years of experience in product design
• Previous work history in manufacturing environment preferred

Physical Demands/Environment

• Walking, standing, sitting, listening, and talking on a wide variety and continual basis
• Movement generally throughout the manufacturing areas required
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
