Schedule: one week the hours would be 8:00am-4:30pm Monday through Friday and the second week would be Monday and Thursday 8:00am-6:00pm, Tuesday 8:00am-8:00pm and Friday 8:00am-4:00pm. Will be an Saturday 8:00am-12:00pm occasionally.
Specific duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
1. Provide direct nursing care to patients, including but not limited to: preliminary physical tests, taking blood pressure, weight, temperature; reporting patient history summary.
2. Secure patient information and maintain patient confidence by completing the proper preservation of medical records; implementation of diagnostic coding and procedure coding; and keeping patient information confidential.
3. Assist providers in examinations and treatments; assist in central service with cleaning and sterilization of equipment; maintain a working knowledge of sterile and clean techniques.
4. Keep supplies readily available by inventorying stock; placing orders and verifying receipts.
5. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
6. Enhance practiced reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
7. Demonstrate skill functioning in a fast paced, high volume environment with frequent interruptions.
8. Uphold the patient-centered medical home model of care focused on the clinical quality measures to insure consistency and continuous improvement of care.
9. Obtain blood and specimens for testing, perform sample testing, document performance of, and results in EMR.
10. Assist with paper and electronic chart prep; work collaboratively with staff to ensure that all required medical records are readily available for routine visits, follow-ups, PCP/FNP, internal and external health information management departments and labs.
11. Schedule ordered tests as appropriate.
12. Other duties assigned under the discretion of LPN, RN, APRN, or MD.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School Diploma, and must hold a current West Virginia Certification as a Medical Assistant, including required continuing education credits.
2. Six (6) months employment as a Medical Assistant required. One (1) to Two (2) years experience preferred.
3. Experience in medical/clinical environment preferred.
4. Familiarity with phlebotomy or injections preferred. Phlebotomy certification preferred.
5. CPR or BLS certification. Training may be provided.
6. Personal computer experience. (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access).
7. Strong verbal/written communication and organizational skills.
