Job Summary: To provide quality service to medical providers in a customer-service oriented environment.

The position involves performing various technical duties for patient visits. As clinical personnel in a team environment, the position requires effective communication skills for a cooperative office. The employee will be required at times to perform under stressful conditions successfully meeting the demands of a large patient body, as well as physicians, in cooperation with the receptionists. This position requires professionalism in every interpersonal encounter ensuring the values of the organization and commitment to quality customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Making certain that patients are in the examination room, vital signs are obtained and accurately documented in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), and all documentation for visit is complete.
  • Being responsible to the physician assigned to you on that day, being readily available for physician orders and requests.
  • Receive lab and x-ray orders from physicians preparing necessary documentations, and performing various routine tests.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory and x-ray testing logs and necessary documentation for all tests according to departmental standards labeling all specimens following set departmental standards.
  • Perform visual acuity testing, audiometry, tympanometry, and spirometry.
  • Giving injections (allergy, immunization) as requested by the physician.
  • Assisting physician with invasive procedures, allergy testing and minor surgical procedures.
  • Perform daily controls for all lab and x-ray equipment and proficiency testing on lab test according to the departmental standards.
  • Performs venipuncture, arterial and capillary punctures on patients. Identifies and labels specimens. Conducts laboratory tests on specimens. Enters data into computer.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies as needed.
  • Complies with all policies and OSHA regulations related to safety, cleanliness, infection control.
  • Maintains confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations.
  • Attends department/staff meetings.

Education: High School Diploma; successful completion of medical assistant course of study and has a certification from the state of MN to take x-rays.

Experience: Minimum of two years clinic setting experience.

Abilities: Ability to exercise independent judgment/decision-making and discretion in reporting and distributing results.

Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families and staff.

Ability to organize effectively and work quickly with high level of accuracy.

Knowledge of clinic policies and procedures

Knowledge of computer system and medical terminology.

Environmental/Working Conditions: Primarily laboratory and radiology setting. Exposure to communicable disease, toxic substances, fumes, hazardous materials, noises.

Physical/Mental Demands: Varied activities including standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching lifting, stooping. Must be able to life/carry/push 25 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination, finger dexterity.

Occasional stress related to workload and customers with problems.

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
