Riverway Clinic has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Medical Lab Technician (MLT) or CMA RMA to float within the Lab Departments between our Andover, Anoka, and Elk River locations. Riverway Clinics are located in the north metro suburbs offering a small-town atmosphere within a short drive north of the Twin Cities and are part of the HealthPartners family of care. This position focuses on excellence toward patient centered care and patient relationships. This position will include specimen collection, specimen processing and resulting, instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, supply management and teamwork!

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:
Medical Laboratory Technician Requirements:

• Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification by an agency approved by the ASCP Board of Certification or AMT. If not currently certified must register for certification with 45 days of hire and must obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
• Qualified to work in a moderately complex laboratory as mandated in the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 (CLIA).

Medical Assistant Requirements:

• Completed an accredited medical assistant program, or
• CMA current AAMA or RMA current AMT

High school diploma or equivalent issued in the United States. Those employees with only foreign educational documents must have them evaluated for equivalency to a US high school diploma, or college degree. (Please contact COLA for a list of evaluation organizations).

Preferred:

• 1 year of laboratory experience
• Previous experience with Epic or Epic Beaker is a plus

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Collects and process biological specimens with appropriate technique following established Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Perform testing analysis and verify assay/analyzer performance according to SOP in an efficient quality focused, cost effective manner. Any combination of the following areas may be included: Hematology, Coagulation, Microbiology, Serology, Immunology, Immunohematology, Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Urinalysis, Phlebotomy, Computer Operation and Reception / Greet Station.
• Document and communicate lab test results thoroughly and accurately according to SOP.
• Perform and documents maintenance procedures plus maintain adequate supplies.
• Demonstrate competency and comply with all regulatory agency policies.
• Consistently implement and adhere to the laboratory customer service and patient experience standards. The standards include maintaining confidentiality, promoting teamwork, successful communication and conflict resolution.
• Respond proactively to stressful circumstances, customer needs and department/clinic changes.
• Demonstrates professional development through participation in continuing education, special projects and community/corporate/professional organizations.
• Demonstrates personal development through dependability, professional appearance and cooperative attitude.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Must possess speech, hearing and sight skills to perform the functions of the position. Manual dexterity is required. Must be able to speak, read and write English proficiently. Some lifting may be required.

Antiipated work schedule at the tme of posting: This is a float position. Locations days and exact hours/shift will vary according to schedule. Hours may vary from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Hours are subject to change.
