Position Summary:

Primary contact providing support, technical advice and assistance to resolve desktop, network, and end-user problems/issues. Perform technical work in the setup and installation of desktop PC systems. Maintain hardware/software inventories, manage licensing and create procedures for upgrades. Assist administering IT policies & procedures and support for continually improving network security. Effectively communicate with and educate end-users.

Essential Functions:

This position is responsible for the following tasks, duties and responsibilities:

• Provide technical support for resolving desktop and network problems.
  • Search for innovative improvements in service
  • Determine appropriate steps for problem solving
  • Interface with other departments to resolve desktop problems/issues
• Server management and cyber security
• Analyze desktop needs and determine appropriate configuration
  • Analyze end-user requirements regarding desktop PC systems and related networks
  • Determine specifications for hardware and software
  • Determine appropriate design and configuration to meet customer’s desktop needs
  • Select appropriate hardware/software to meet end-user requirements
• Install and maintain desktop PCs & scan to printer system
  • Install desktop PCs & print access for users
  • Test, diagnose and repair desktop systems & printer issues
  • Maintain equipment records
  • Load application software
  • Ensure proper network connectivity
  • Maintain and update virus protection on desktop systems
• Provide high quality end-user service
  • Provide technical assistance and expertise to other support groups
  • Listen effectively to the needs of users
  • Assist in creating training materials for users
  • Own effective communication with the end-user including follow-up
  • Search for innovative improvements in service
• Maintain inventory of installed software
  • Manage software licensing
  • Create procedures for updates and upgrades of software
• Help administer IT policies and procedures
  • Educate users and assist in compliance with policies
  • Support continually improving network security and compliance
• Share knowledge
  • Through the problem resolution process, educate users
  • Share knowledge with colleagues to increase the knowledge level of the group
• Other duties as assigned

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field or 3 to 5 years of related experience. Degree preferred.
• Experienced desktop hardware/software (i.e. Active Directory, DOS, Windows Operating System, MS Applications and Network administration)
• Fundamental knowledge of network communications
• Fundamental knowledge of network integration within an open systems environment
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to define, manage, and resolve desktop system problems and related network issues
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Superior problem-solving skills
• Excellent organizational skills, Ability to manage multiple tasks.

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

• This position requires periodic walking trips through the manufacturing facility where decibel levels are considered noisy, but safe (personal protective equipment provided as required).
• Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment consistently and correctly. This may include wearing safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, other safety equipment as designated, and adhering to the safety dress code.
• This position is considered sedentary work which involves sitting most of the time with only occasional need to walk to stand.
• May be required to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
• Visual acuity, manual dexterity, and hand function may be required to complete data entry, use technology, and complete other administrative tasks as assigned.
