Cannon Equipment, a leading producer of custom material handling carts, conveyance systems and automated solutions is looking for New Product Development Engineer to lead innovation development from concept to production. This opportunity will have a central role among a highly talented and creative team leading the development and implementation of Cannon Equipment’s product roadmap that delivers innovative solutions and help our customers move forward.

Qualifications

• Bachelors’ degree required, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering degree preferred. 5+ years of experience in mechanical design or a related area, experience developing material handling solutions is preferred.
• High proficiency in 2D and 3D design software, geometric dimensioning, experience with AutoDesk Inventor is a plus.
• Experience administrating and executing project-related testing and documentation such as FEA, DFMEA, PFMEA and DVP&R.
• Understanding of parts sourcing, capabilities, and tolerances.
• Working knowledge and experience with electrical, pneumatic components, system controls, fabrication and metal forming for manufacturability.
• Experience with robotics and automation is a plus.

Job Responsibilities

• Spearhead engineering efforts on assigned projects including ownership of design, prototyping, testing, BOM, manufacturing plan and patent evaluations.
• Develop product from concept to completion, determining appropriate process methods based on product requirements and recommend materials.
• Research and analyze data to determine feasibility of design and validate that it meets both design intent and performance specifications.
• Provide design and product analysis to meet customers specifications, emphasizing design for manufacturability.
• Function as a highly valued team player who works with cross functional teams to specify design parameters and finished product goals.
• Prepare 3D models and detailed engineering drawings of complicated components and assemblies.
• Present complex conceptual ideas and solutions to internal and external teams.
• Establish performance standards and develop tests to ensure solutions meet functional and design criteria.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop prototypes.
• Test prototypes and final designs to identify and correct any weaknesses in products.
• Maintain expenses within project budgets and costs to meet financial targets at scale.
