JOB SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, this non-exempt position will perform tasks related to desktop support
and technology project management to support FCS Information Technology (IT) needs. The technician provides direct
computer, network, and telecommunications support for FCS staff. This support includes but is not limited to: IT
customer service activities, computer, peripheral, network, communications, software, and hardware configuration,
installation, trouble-shooting, updating, maintaining, decommissioning, inventory, and management of various IT related
projects. This position requires front-line support to end-users.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Evaluate, prioritize and assign SolarWinds help tickets related to desktop (IT) maintenance, cell phones, landlines, tablets and other computer related technologies
  • Analyze, troubleshoot and resolve problems with applications, networking, hardware and telephone systems
  • Monitor and follow up with requests to ensure each problem is resolved.
  • Perform scheduled work as necessary and assigned, such as preventative maintenance, workstations setup, hardware and software installations.
  • Create and maintain documentation on common problems and solutions to help reduce preventable help ticket requests
  • Create domain and email accounts
  • Contact software and/or hardware vendors to request service regarding defective products
  • Participate in deploying client configurations throughout the computer network system, a process requiring detailed knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and compatible business applications
  • Track IT related assets in inventory software
  • Track agency cell phones, cable/Direct TV/Dish boxes, long distance codes
  • Create, maintain and/or update operational documentation
  • Coordinate with IT contractor on open tickets and IT related projects
  • Prioritize and schedule work; escalate problems to operations director as necessary
  • Stay current with technology information, changes and updates by searching and requesting applicable training opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Preferable: Minimum of 2 years’
experience in desktop support, computer hardware and peripherals, ancillary systems and devices

  • Preferable: A+, Microsoft MCT. MCSA certifications
  • Preferable: SolarWinds software experience
  • Required: must accurately complete exercises in Microsoft Excel, Word, and IT

HEALTH AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: Maintain practices, means, methods, operation, or process, reasonably
necessary or appropriate to provide a safe and healthful working environment. Maintain health and safety requirements in
keeping with agency policy and procedures. Position is subject to a cleared background check. Position is subject to
required TB testing. Position is subject to drug screening Position is subject to a onetime CPR/First Aid certification.
