This is a part time position for 12 hours a month. You will do sessions at the prison and each session is roughly 1 hour long.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES/STAFF QUALIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALING:

The candidate shall provide professional phlebotomy services, and in only their field of expertise, to inmates housed at the FPC.

The candidate will be allowed access to inmate’s medical records. Normally the duties of the candidate would not require direct entries into the inmate’s medical record. However, some information generated by the candidate may be included in the inmate’s medical record.

The candidate shall be responsible for, but not limited to, maintenance of a waiting list, daily maintenance of laboratory equipment, including advising the Contract Monitor (CM) when equipment requires professional maintenance or repair; biological specimen preparation and packaging for delivery to contract laboratory; maintenance of laboratory logs and other records as necessary for complying with CLIA guidelines; inform CM of all information pertaining to the services rendered, i.e., specimen(s) obtained, and reporting any problems arising in regards to laboratory services to the CM.

The phlebotomist must either have completed a 12-week Lab Technician Program, an approved state program, or possess an associate’s degree. The candidate must have a least six months experience as a Phlebotomist or Lab Technician in a clinical setting. The candidate shall provide written documentation of certification (copy of all diplomas and/or certificates) that permit them to perform the services in this statement of work for the duration of the contract.

The candidate shall be escorted, but not supervised by Health Services staff. Administrative supervision will be provided by Health Services Administrator and Professional Medical Staff. Provision of services under this contract will require frequent and unsupervised contact with inmates. The candidate will not be responsible for the administrative management of inmates other than to ensure that those inmates involved in activities within the contractor’s scope of work shall abide by all rules in effect to ensure their safety and well-being.

SCHEDULE:

The candidate will provide an estimated 12 sessions per month, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Holidays, between the hours of 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. A session is defined as one (1) hour. The services may be provided on an as-needed basis with the contractor subject to call for services. All sessions will be mutually agreed upon by both parties. Under no circumstances will the contractor work more than 30 hours in any one week. This schedule is subject to some variation as the needs of institution vary.
