SUMMARY OF POSITION DUTIES:

The Central Orthopedic Group is an orthopedic surgery practice located in Plainview, Massapequa, and Rockville Centre specializing in all areas of Orthopedic Care. With a network of 20 providers, The Central Orthopedic Group combines the expertise found in a large academic hospital with the personalization of a community setting.

COG is looking for a Surgical Physician Assistant to assist our growing roster of physicians in the operating room. We are looking for someone who specializes in evaluating and treating patients with traumatic injuries. You will work alongside many other physicians, surgeons, and other surgical PA’s to care for our patients in and out of the operating room. We are looking for someone who has a sincere passion for providing the appropriate health services and giving the best care possible.

QUALIFICATIONS:

RESPONSIBLITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Daily surgical first assist role in the operating room.
  • Evaluate patients and provide appropriate diagnosis for illness and/or injuries with bones, joints, ligaments, and other related injuries.
  • Addresses pre-and post-operative patient questions and concerns.
  • Consults with primary physician to inform patients of MRI results and care plan.
  • On-Call responsibilities & hospital rounding in coordination with the other surgical PA team members.
  • Document all patient evaluations, treatments, medications, and transactions according to company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor patients progress during and after treatment.
  • Prescribe, administer, and dispense medication in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Communicates clearly with all the team members to ensure agreement of diagnosis and treatment plan while on-call.
  • Answers all questions and addresses all concerns of the patients.

Requirements:

  • Accredited PA program graduate.
  • New York Physician Assistant license.
  • NCCPA board certification.
  • BLS/ACLS certification.
  • Experience in orthopedics preferred. Clinical rotation experience preferred.
  • Must be able to travel to all offices and hospitals throughout Nassau County.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $125,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
