ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Provides engineering expertise to solve problems, improve processes, and implement capital projects by developing the project scope, estimating costs, designing, constructing, procurement, and installing and/or modifying manufacturing equipment.
• Provide operational and maintenance support by solving recurring issues through process improvements, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Provides capital project management to the facility by ensuring projects are completed in a timely manner and within budget.
• Provide operational support through equipment optimization and personnel training. Prepares engineering drawings, manuals and other documentation.
• Supervises the Maintenance department of 3 technicians.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Continuous and Batch control systems, PLC, instrumentation, and understanding of AC and DC drives.
• Strong PC skills with MS Project, Word, Excel and Power Point.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Problem solving, innovation, sense of urgency, customer focus, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as in a team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
• 3-5 years of experience from continuous or batch manufacturing in the coatings, polymers, chemical or related industry.
• Knowledge of as many of the following unit operations as possible: reaction (ideally batch), filtration, agitation, solvent handling, and heat exchange (chillers).
• Be well versed in fluid pumping characteristics (centrifugal and positive displacement), pump and agitator seals, vacuum, heat exchange (chillers), and materials of constructions.
