Role and Responsibilities

As a Product Design Engineer, you will be responsible to deliver projects of varying size and complexity for a luxury consumer appliance manufacturer. This position is part of a cross-functional, goal-oriented team that works in a manufacturing environment. This role will focus on improving current production products and developing the next generation of luxury appliances as part of the New Product Development Process.

Product lines include Premium Ranges, Range Tops, Hoods, Wall Ovens and Refrigerators sold under the BlueStar and Big Chill Brand names.

Responsibilities:

· Translate customer requirements into component, sub-system, and product attributes.

· Justify resources for cost and quality improvement projects based on simple payback analysis.

· Own the design process from creating concepts in 3D space, completing predictive analysis, fabricating prototypes for feasibility, validating through experimental studies in the lab, and releasing design into production.

· Design sheet metal, extrusion, glass, plastic, and die-cast components and assemblies.

· Demonstrate product performance against required technical specifications and regulatory requirements.

· Support the implementation of design concepts within the manufacturing facility by participating in product builds.

· Some travel within the Eastern US to support design and production activities (approximately 5%).

· Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements

· BS in Mechanical Engineering is required

· 5 plus years product development experience required, preferably in consumer goods.

· Excellent project management skills

· Proficient computer skills - MS Office Outlook, Excel, CAD, SAP

· Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills

· Ability to use good judgement and strong work ethics and integrity on the job

· Demonstrated experience with statistical tools

Preferred Qualifications and Education Requirements

· Appliance industry experience

· Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
