ATA Services is currently seeking to hire a Project Manager to work on a temporary assignment with our client State of NM – Income Support Division.

• Pay Rate: $23.00
• Start Date: March 2023 – expected to last one year.

The Income Support Division (ISD) provides public assistance to over one-million New Mexicans, including Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Medicaid. ISD manages grants, federal and state initiatives, day-to-day activities, and special projects. The complex and critical nature of work requires organized oversite and adherence to timeframes. This project manager is critical to providing direct project management services, as well as project management consulting for long-term success.

The objectives for project management are to provide expert project management, including but not limited to assisting with the planning, scheduling, and distribution of all agency initiatives. This role will create, maintain, and update project plans and produce reports, and maintain clear, timely, and succinct communication with the leadership team of the division.

The objectives for project management consulting are to: perform an assessment of the known existing tools, reports, plans, and trackers, and any other relevant artifacts; identity what is working well, and areas for improvement; develop new processes and recommend automated tools for areas identified for improvement; and document process and operations guide for knowledge transfer and sustainability.

The ISD does support several project management solutions, such as:

• Teams, Planner and SharePoint (Microsoft suite)
• JIRA and Confluence (Atlassian Tools)
• Planview

Job Duties:

• Set up and maintain project plans
• Assign work/tasks
• Update project and task status
• Regularly update team and manager to ensure projects/tasks are in flight and on schedule and any potential roadblocks are addressed.
• Reviewing current project management processes and capabilities
• Providing an overview of weaknesses in current processes and controls
• Recommendations for better processes and controls
• Support in the implementation of new tools, processes, and procedures
• This position will assist with improving and managing change for business process enhancements and project portfolio management processes with different supporting tools
• Provide project management skillset to support planning and process project, providing guidance on the PMI-based project management methodology and best practices,
• develop and maintain schedules and forecasting plans

Qualifications for Project Manager

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, or a related field
• 5-8 years of project management and related experience
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
• Proven ability to solve problems creatively
• Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
• Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
• Excellent analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
• Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
