Job Description:
The Department of Computer Science in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking a Program Specialist II to provide internal and external communications for the department and serve as the Departmental Outreach Coordinator.
The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, be self-motivated, be proactive in planning ahead, and able to work successfully in a team environment. The position requires extensive interaction with external constituents and university personnel. The candidate should be able to communicate clearly and effectively with others using excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills. The candidate should have high-level proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
Example of Duties:
Develop and implement communications, marketing, and outreach efforts to support and promote the department to internal and external constituents; share and inform department projects facilitated by donations; and serve as the main point of contact for alumni in visits to campus, awards, reunions, and other alumni-centric events.
Produce and edit communications (e.g. news, departmental newsletter, magazine) for various channels including website and social media outlets; manage the department’s social media accounts; curate social media and web content; design digital assets for social media, web, and print; assist with planning, organizing, and implementing special projects and events.
Serve as a point of contact for industry; solicit proposals for, coordinate and host industry lectures; advertise and solicit projects for project-oriented courses in the department.
Represent the department at Alumni Relations Council and ISU Alumni Association coordinated events.
Support broadening participation in computing committee that conducts K-12 outreach.
Collaborate with internal and external groups to develop events and identify speakers/programs to invite to campus that further develop the department’s mission.
Coordinate events including faculty retreats, receptions, banquets, prospective student socials and receptions.
