JOB TITLE: Radiologic Technologist
General Definition: The purpose of this position is to perform as a qualified registered Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist assigned to the Imaging department. This position may require days, evenings, weekends and call backs to cover staffing shortages in various locations as determined by imaging leadership to meet the needs of our patients. Satellite clinic employees due to their physical locations will not be expected to be on-call for CNMC radiology services.
Supervision Received: Incumbent is under the direct supervision of the Imaging Supervisor.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: 1. Responsible for accuracy, precision and quality of all procedures and operations one performs in the Imaging Department. 2. Responsible for proper identification of patients including correct hospital number and proper identification of all radiographs (images). Reviews each x-ray request to determine necessary images needed for the completion of the examination. 3. Ensures patient mental and physical well being through proper patient care and advanced expert use of all radiology equipment. 4. Participates in continuing education as provided or as needed to maintain licensure. 5. Treats all patients with respect and maintains a cooperative attitude with other employees to facilitate quality patient care. Must maintain effective working relationship with employees and supervisory staff of the facility, with tribal officials and other visitors to the facility. 6. Responsible for cleanliness of work area and equipment assigned. Reports all x-ray instrumentation malfunctions to the Imaging Supervisor. 7. Performs required duties in the department as needed. Keeps abreast of current technical literature and evaluates new procedures and techniques for the purpose of recommending them to the Imaging Supervisor. 8. Responsible for providing the correct Medias for the specific examination. Must be adequately trained in use of all injectable diagnostic contract Medias and sterile techniques. 9. Reviews the radiograph (images) for high technical quality, position and all factors that are required to provide a high quality radiograph. 10. Follow Imaging studies through PACS network to ensure proper delivery of images to Interpreting Providers 11. May be asked to work in other modalities as registered/certified and proven competent by modality supervisor. 12. Other duties as assigned. Physical Demands: The work requires long periods of standing and walking. Positioning patients who are unconscious or disabled requires considerable effort and working in awkward positions. Heavy lifting of totally incapacitated patients is done only with the help of other employees.
Work Environment: The work area is well lighted, and temperature controlled. Special safety precautions are used to reduce exposure to X-rays. These include using minimum current settings in the X-ray equipment and never operating the equipment except from behind a protective screen and using protective apparel, such as, lead aprons and gloves whenever needed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Must possess knowledge in all radiation protection standards and safety equipment. Knowledge of anatomy to provide accurate radiographs of injured or disease areas. Knowledge to correctly operate all x-ray equipment and to perform all radiographic examinations as prescribed. Must be able to communicate directly with department and medical staff and be able to clarify medical problems of patients who seem debilitated and not cause further injury. Must be able to maintain in strict confidence all information received on the job.
Training and Experience: Graduate of accredited Radiologic school/program or military trained. Technologist must be registered or registry eligible. Must maintain BLS.
