This is a year round position that is full-time for four weeks in June and July, part-time the rest of the year, with the winter as a slower time for evaluation and planning. Residency season begins in March and ends in November.

Position Overview

Art Omi seeks a Residency Program Coordinator to support five international residencies for writers, translators, dancers, choreographers, musicians, artists, and architects. We are seeking a people person, someone personable and mature, with strong emotional intelligence, warmth, humor, and curiosity who appreciates serving others with gracious and radical hospitality, and operates from an ethos of inclusion and belonging. The Residency Coordinator is the on-site point person for each of the five residency programs at Art Omi. Under the supervision of the Co-Executive Director, the Residency Coordinator is responsible for supporting all five Residency Directors and the program participants, and liaising with other departments to ensure all residency-related programming runs smoothly, and that all staff are working to foster a positive experience for every resident.

The Residency Coordinator is the vital link between programs and departments in support of the residency programs. The Residency Coordinator supports residency-related administrative activities depending on each program’s needs and specific format; the five residencies function in unique ways and needs will vary. The Residency Coordinator will have responsibilities that are consistent across all residencies, including house management during and between programs.

Major Areas of Responsibility

The overarching aim of this position is to act as the primary onsite resource to meet the needs of artists in residence throughout their stay, to care for their wellbeing, and to ensure their experience at Art Omi is as positive as possible.

Program Support/Operations, included but not limited to:

• Administer a simple budget for inventory, stock, and bulk ordering of supplies at Residency Houses
• Manage housekeeping operations at the Residency Houses & Studio Barns
• Support coordination of residency catering as needed, depending on each residency program's needs
• Conduct regular walkthroughs of the Residency Houses to ensure proper standards are adhered to
• Coordinate with Facilities Department regarding maintenance needs
• Responsible for regular food shopping for residencies, varies depending on residencies
• Maintain storage spaces organized for each residency
• Support onsite and Zoom orientation sessions with Residency Directors
• Coordinates jury selection process including meetings as needed, varies depending on residencies
• Support coordination of all Residency Events with Residency Directors and other departments including:Residency Event preparation and support (eg: Open Studios)

Liaise with other departments including Communications, Visitors Services, and Facilities when needed for event support

Administration, included but not limited to:

• Contribute to shared program information, inventories and internal calendars regarding Residency programming
• Contribute to residency program databases (public and internal lists, Neon, etc.)
• Send post-residency surveys after each Residency session and share feedback with program directors
• Maintain and distribute Residency Manual and Residency Guidelines for each new resident
• Assist with coordinating and booking travel for incoming Residents as needed
• Supports off site field trips and tours of the park for Residency Programs
• Assist with Art Omi: Artists Archive database and storage maintenance as needed

Qualifications

A successful candidate will have:

• Demonstration of working successfully in a support position, preferably in a non-profit and/or arts organization.
• A “people person”; someone with emotional intelligence, warmth, humor, and curiosity who appreciates serving others with gracious and radical hospitality, and operates from an ethos of inclusion and belonging.
• Demonstration of commitment to anti-oppression work and a history of taking an active role in building a welcoming environment that supports all people equally
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong problem solver
• Organized, strong planning skills with ability to manage supporting multiple overlapping residency programs
• A team player who can also work independently, and demonstrate leadership when needed
• A background or strong interest in the arts

Schedule & Compensation

• Averages 20 hours per week over the year, including many weekends and evenings, especially in summer, fewer in spring and fall. 40 hours per week are required in June and July. Some remote work is possible. Winter schedule will be lighter and flexible
• $25,000 - $30,000 per year, dependent on experience

Work Environment

Work takes place primarily indoors, including carrying light equipment and groceries, with some work taking place outdoors. The candidate must be able to work some weekends and evenings onsite at Art Omi related events. This position is often within a fast-paced, energetic, environment with stationary periods.
