SUMMARY: The Road Supervisor provides direct supervision and leadership to the drivers; monitoring and addressing driver safety performance, timely rollouts, On Time service provision, and Drive Cam safety system review. The Road Supervisor also monitors drivers’ performance and mentors, coaches and issues progressive discipline appropriately with consultation from the Operations Manager. The Supervisor investigates incidents and accidents and works closely with the Safety and Training Manager and other managers to foster a work environment of safety and quality customer service.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Performs drivers’ safety evaluation ride checks, observation of drivers while making their runs, and prescribes the necessary re-training.
· Maintains radio and telephone contact with transit vehicle drivers and coordinates service provision.
· Responds to service problems including re-routing and passenger events with the goal of restoration of interrupted service.
· Investigates accidents and incidents.
· Directly supervises drivers, responsible to lead, coach, and discipline drivers up through the Written Warning level of progressive discipline in consultation with the Operations Manager.
· Provides relief to service provision by driving in revenue service if required.
· Reviews and investigates video and applies the appropriate interaction with the driver in accordance to established policies.
· Provides leadership to the operations employees by demonstrating safe work behaviors and following all company rules and policies.
· Investigates and responds to situation reports and potential unsafe locations; making reports and recommendations.
· Effectively communicates with management personnel regarding operational or safety issues or concerns and coordinates efforts toward their resolution.
· Provides passenger assistance.
· Coordinates with departmental managers to address roadside problems.
· Prepares and maintains reports and performs clerical activities associated with operations.
· Assists the Safety and Training Manager in the administration of the company’s Drug and Alcohol testing and Work Comp programs.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma, GED or equivalent.
· Two or more years of leadership experience.
· Commercial Driver’s License with passenger and airbrake endorsement.
· Ability to pass a DOT physical examination and drug screen.
· Strong written and oral communication skills.
