General Purpose

PART TIME SECURITY SPECIALIST NEEDED

Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties as needed to secure and maintain campus facilities and to ensure safety. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure campus environment, while building relationships with all college stakeholders. As a member of the risk management team there is a direct responsibility for ensuring the compliance and adherence to all government and institutional rules, regulations, policies, procedures, mandates, recommendations, codes, and laws.

Job Focus

• Performs campus patrols to secure and monitor the campus; routine building inspections; closing and opening activities; and responds to alarms and code calls.
• Participates as a member of the campus risk management team responding to all assigned duties and tasks.
• Performs various duties related to risk management, safety and security.
• Participates in Safety, Risk Management, Security Enforcement and regular assigned inspections.
• Works closely with local law enforcement as it pertains to campus safety and security.
• Understands all applicable federal, State, and local laws pertaining to campus risk, safety, and security.
• Understands and adheres to all campus policies and procedures.
• Participates in Safety, Evacuation, CIT, and Threat Assessment Teams.
• Performs tabletop and actual drills related to emergency preparedness.
• Builds positive relationships, communicates effectively, works in harmony with all stakeholders.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience

• High school graduation or equivalent; Associates in Criminal Justice or related field preferred.
• Requires one (1) year of progressively responsible experience performing related duties; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses and Certifications

• Requires a valid Utah Drivers License
• Must qualify for a Utah armed/unarmed Security License
• POST certification preferred
