We have an opening for a Senior Accountant for a Boulder entity offering incredible benefits reporting to the Controller. This company focuses on helping the Front Range community with section 8 housing. This full-time permanent role will primarily be remote after 6 months of in-office training. Main duties include preparation of monthly financial statements, balance sheet and income statement preparation, month-end journal entries, reconciliations in accordance with GAAP.

DUTIES

• Perform month end general ledger reconciliations.
• Work with fixed assets, A/P, A/R, prepaid expenses, mortgage debt, amortization, depreciation, monthly fees, interest accruals, voucher programs, tax credit entities, etc.
• Analyze the monthly financial statements for completeness and accuracy.
• Analyze income / expenses variance to budget.
• Analyze cash flow and calculate debt service coverage requirements.
• Reconcile tenant security deposit/interest with cash and prepare transfer requests.
• Provide support as needed for reconciling monthly intercompany transactions and preparation of funding requests.
• Interact with investors, auditors,audit firms/ tax preparers and other partnersas needed.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies in AR ledgers, aging AR reports and related system issues.
• Perform monthly grant management duties.
• Prepares monthly support for financial reporting for HUD required Section 8 as assigned.
• Prepare annual submission to HUD for both preliminary and audited financials.
• Prepare assigned annual budget responsibilities for GL accounts including working with other departments.
• Maintain updated policies and procedures as necessary.
• Other projects and duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES

• BS or BA in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA or currently progressing toward a CPA is required.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with GAAP.
• Yardi and real estate experience considered a plus.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to take initiative to complete projects.
• Professionalism and integrity are important.
