Senior Accountant

ACCOUNTABILITY

The senior accountant is responsible for developing innovative ideas through leveraging technology and systems while analyzing and improving current processes and procedures. This is a fast-paced position that controls multiple projects simultaneously. The primary focus of the senior accountant is to ensure the integrity of accounting information. As our company grows this position will assist the CFO in performing general accounting functions. This position also has growth potential to Controller.

As a core member of the finance and accounting leadership team, the senior accountant will hold themselves and others to a high standard and seek to support and develop others through our just cause, company ethos, and coaching and mentoring culture. While actively participating in budgeting, and financial reporting, and contributing to the overall company strategy and performance.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Oversee finance and accounting functions including journal entries, reconciliation, financial reporting, and operating and capital expenditures.

Participate in month-end closing for multiple entities.

Ensures Company policies are followed, and all transactions are in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).

Supervises accounting staff and supports their development.

Identify on-site Support for timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of all operational management accounts.

Maintain and update records and reports for profit and loss, taxes, liabilities, and assets.

Prepare special financial reports as requested by management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trend.

This position will serve as a backup to various other positions within the Finance Department.

A fast-paced, diverse work that is varied from day to day and week to week.


PROUD OWNER

Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting activities including reconciliation of bank and credit card accounts; assist with coordination and completion of annual financial reviews; and reviewing/preparing financial reports/support as necessary.

Analyze and report on financial status including variance analysis, communicating financial results to management, budget preparation and analysis.

Prepare and file sales, hotel, and use taxes; and stay in compliance with City/State regulations.

Facilitate business licenses.

Maintain effective internal controls.

Cross train in accounts payable for team assistance when needed.

HARD SKILLS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

Skills, Knowledge or Experience with Sage Intacct platforms, Microsoft Office, and ProfitSword.

Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and automated reporting software.

CPA Certification preferred.

3+ years of experience in an accounting or finance role.

History of progressive career growth in the hospitality industry preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Lift, Carry, Push, and Pull up to 35 lbs.


TRAVEL: Up to 10%, home office allowance allotted.

LOCATION: Remote position, employment limited to IA, IL, MN, MO, WI
